Glad you got it fixed. I was reading the thread and about to jump in with "have your driveshaft balanced". I just came from a similar issue - a vibe at 40 that was driving me nuts. After lots of figuring had the driveshaft balanced and it turned out the front yoke had become unbalanced. How that happened is beyond me - only 50k on the truck and nothing changed in the last few months. None of the mechanics can figure out why it happened. I guess it is what it is - stuff happens.

    Not bad in my opinion.

Nah. Not to replace the warm and fuzzies of having a trouble free truck.

can i ask to verify, they modified the balance of the shaft? it was not just as simple as replacing the u joint?

i’m chasing the same problems, i haven’t gone to the depths of balancing the wheels over and over, but im at a point i want to go to a leaf spring company and have them go through my leaf pack. ever since my AAL, i’ve had issues. and now i’ve invested the labor of adding the 3° axle shim for the lift, and im still chasing the vibe.

They just replaced the U joint. No rebalancing that I’m aware off.

    yeah ok cool thanks.

im chasing what to i believe is a rear end shimey. not sure if it’s wheel balance of the 1.5” add a leaf, and then i tried to cure it with 3 u joints and a oem spicer carrier bearing. just before that i added a 2.5° shim and helped my operating angels. now im contemplating a bigger wedge axle shim like a 3 or 3.5°.. i need to measure my shafts again.

then i wonder if the fact i’ve never had a wheel alignment ever would could play a factor..? i wish i knew some good toyota mechanics.

I don't know a whole heck of a lot about all the things.

I will tell you if it's wheel alignment you should notice something in your steering wheel usually.

But I will also say wheel balance and alignment isn't something bad to check. It's quick and easy and checks a couple boxes off.

Are your leads in good condition? I no longer own my truck but one of my drivers side leafs was busted. As far as I know there was no symptoms created other than obviously the frigging sag they get under load but the stock leafs really blow. Especially if you live in an area that promotes rust.

i know you mentioned you sold the truck and this might be a while back now, but im going to ask what happen to your leaf spring? one cracked in half? what kind of symptoms did you have with your spring? happen to have pics? did you fix it?

i recently did the add a leaf, and ever since then i want to say i’ve noticed vibrations at different speeds. i’ve measured my driveline angles and shimmed the carrier bearing, and i’ve also tried to repair the rear diff angle with axle shims. it’s better, but not oem specs, so still trying to dial down the real issue. super hard trying to find a vib only between 55-60mph. depending on the cb drop kit, the vib changes to 55-60mph. it’s starting to drive me crazy.

I noticed it was cracked at least on the outer portion (assuming through and through) I had sagging and squeeking but unsure of any other issues. None that were obvious to me. The squeeking wasn’t anything extreme or obnoxious.

    I did not fix it.

got it. i’ll inspect again. but i really feel like im chasing my tail lately. i think im going to have to get an alignment to rule that out. im just hoping i don’t need a new set of tires. i just got some new toyo open AT’s, they are sweet. and i still only have like less than 5k on them.

    thanks for the tips.
