just bought my first new truck so i actually care about the paint. My previous trucks were workhorses so i washed them 4 times a year. Help me out with a chemical guys kit which has what i need to keep my chariot sparkle fresh.
I do own a pressure washer.

I personally am not a fan of this company. If you do a search on YouTube you will find an abundance amount of help with your self detailing projects. I have found for myself, foaming with Adams, two bucket method and using a leaf blower then a quality spray wax/drying aid has given me results I am happy with.

Good luck with your adventure with your self-detailing project

Check out McKee's 37 products at Autogeek. Every single product I've used from the line has been top notch. Much better than Chem Guys overall.

Their sealants are awesome. Pretty much everything is great.

Do not confuse car maintinence with excessive washing. In fact its the opposite. Every time you wash your vehicle you scratch it. You want to keep washing to a minimum.
4 times a year is perfect for maintaining a nice paint job. The goal is just keeping contaminants that harm your paint (bug guts, sap, bird droppings, berries etc) off the paint to prevent damage.
This can be done by using quality protective coatings.

I have never seen a kit that comes with everything you need to maintain a paint job. I could make one but would probably cost $1,000 and include a polisher, vaccum, blower, a plethora of towels, a full set of every color pad etc lol

I am a fan of CG. Their products make up 90% of my product arsenal.

I will say that their towels are the only thing I have bought from them that I feel are not worth the money.

    Favorite CG products:
Clean Slate soap (pre detail soap)
    Mr. Pink soap (maint washes)
    Diablo Wheel Gel
    Decon Deironizer
Jet Seal sealer (this will stain black plastics so use automotive tape)
Trim Gel is to die for. Shit will shine dark black for months.
Interior Detailer (pina colada scented :kona:)

I would say to avoid kits, unless it's more of a sale than a kit. It just seems like if it's CG, Autogeek or one of their various product lines, any given kit has a few great items coupled with a few items that don't sell very well thrown in.

Catch Autogeek in one of their 25% w/ free shipping sales and build your own kit.

FYI. Stay away from VO7 Detail Spray. It has alcohol in it which helps strip wax from your vehicle.

Chemical guys is no better than most normal brands you see at the Autoparts store. I recommend McKees 37 and all Meguiars products.

I see this is a thread that is a little old but I will add my 2 cents.

I have been into detailing vehicles for a while since my family owned an auto body and mechanical shop.

I do use chemical guys products on my own vehicles. Some have no worked so well but some have produced excellent finishes.

I use the following items with great success.

    Citrus wash and gloss
(Not a good idea to use it every time as it actually has acid in it, maybe once every 6 months)
If you have a very dirty vehicle this is hard to beat.

    Pink stuff wash
(A little gentler than citrus was and gloss)

    Jet seal
(Exceptional sealer) I love the stuff. You want to apply with a machine. As stated before keep it off plastic.

    Butter wax
It’s not to expensive and lasts about a month but less than that in summer months. Easy to apply and remove.

I have tried the Wolfgang Fuzion was a d I like it for making colors really pop. Being that my current truck is white i don’t see it glow like it does with a red or blue color, but it does seem to last about a month or so.

I did try the chemical guys XXX wax. It’s ok but at like 40.00 a can I did t feel it was money well spent.

I did happen to get a tub of Celeste Dettaio wax. It made the silver on my Jeep glow and the metallic white on my old Ducati was bright and made it look like it had a halo.

I do use collinite insulator wax. It’s pretty good stuff. I use it on windows also and water just runs off like rainx has been apprised.

Stay away from the V07, I could never get it to preform well. I was told it requires you to buff it heavily. I tried and it sucks!

The speed wipe/shine didn’t work well for me either. I use McGuire’s quick detailer.

I did just buy a bottle of their P40 detailer/wax and I’m going to try it.

If you have a matte finish paint stay a hell away from the chemical guys matte detailer. It totally screwed my my Harley’s paint. Left streaks and I played hell getting it off. The very best Matte paint detailer I have ever tried was the Harley matte paint detailer. It works amazing.

I agree the chemical guys microfiber is over priced. Their microfiber application cubes are nice through.

My car is wash method is as follows.

I use a pressure washer to soap and get all the heavy stuff off.
Use my foam gun to soak down with a micro fiber wash mit.
    Micro fiber towel dry.
Clean paint with very light polish 3800 optical grit on a machine.
    Sealer
    Wax

    Hope that helps.

I think it’s all junk. Wasn’t happy with the soap or butter wet wax
