TACOCAMPER's 2017 Tacoma Build

Few pictures from the past couple weekends. Was able to flex the BP51s in a bunch of fresh snow. The difference between stock and these is night and day, I still cant believe how smooth the ride is.

 

Next mod is to install the transfer case, transmission and fuel tank aluminum ski plates from RCI Metal Works. I am still debating on painting these or leaving them as is, leaning towards leaving them bare just due to laziness. I will be doing a couple more layers of paint and then install by sliders on Thursday. Things are coming together and I have schedule the pickup of my GFC camper in mid April. Took a week off to explore Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

Spare tire bed rail mount courtesy of Wilco Offroad, now my spare won’t take up my entire bed space.

 

Goal today was to install all my remaining skids, unfortunately I broke all the sockets I needed so it’ll wait for another day.

 

Not the greatest pictures but got the gas tank, transmission and transfer case skids installed.

 

This thing is sweet, best cold weather blanket you can buy. Started planning the trip to Montana to pickup the GFC and the girlfriend is terrified of the cold so this is a nice addition to a good sleeping bag. Currently have a week set aside to explore Montana(Yellowstone, Grand Teton's), Idaho and east Oregon.

 

Just an updated picture from the past few week, eager waiting on the next few mods to come in the mail. Ordered fog light kit from Baja Designs and some new headlight bulbs as well as. Installing everything this week!

 

These should be a nice upgrade from the stock fog lights.

 

Had a few conversations with other taco owners and just wanted to posted how I got rid of the rubbing once I added 285/70R17's tires and the BP51s suspension front and back with the OME HD dakars. So how I did it was I unscrewed the few screws on the bumper where the wheel well ends and under the bumper starts. I pushed all the plastic in the front of the well forward towards the bumper and then just used a different longer screw to attached it back. I did trim a small amount out plastic that was left over, but that was easy and I did it with a box cutter. Did this on both sides and haven't had any rubbing since. I put some pics below as well (not the best). The last pic just shows how I am not using the existing screw on the bottom of the bumper.

 

Installed the Baja Designs Squadron fog lights and man these are way better than stock! Not a very good pic but I’ll update more later.

 

Nice, I just installed these on Sunday. I wish there was a way to make them usable on the road but even with aiming, it looks like they are going to blind the other drivers. /shrug

 

Oh I know, I wish that was the case but these are super bright and well worth it. I just replaced the bulbs in my headlights which helped a bit.
