5100s and 885s. Do I need to do the rear right away?

As the title says. I've got my coils, 5100 fronts are in the mail, and icon ucas will be here tomorrow. I've got a 2008 DCLB, will I be a lot higher in the front of I did just that this weekend? Or should I scrounge up the cash and do it all at once with an AAL? Really want Dakars, but buying a house is taking a lot of disposable income away right now haha

Are you keeping the 5100s on the lowest setting? If so it should be find. Probably only a 1/2" lower in the back with the 885s and stock rear. Pretty much what I have had on my truck for the past year or so. It's a first gen though.

Yeah, lowest setting. Bought my 885s with about 15k on them, so they should be settled I'd think. Maybe it'll come out as level, I just don't want to take the risk of being nose high

The ome springs require the 5100s to be set on lowest setting.
Even if you are nose high, throw some blocks back there until you can get the dakars.

my Access Cab 4x4 4.0 got about 2.5 inches of lift with those coils before I added skids, sliders and other weight. You should get 2-2.5" of lift. Stock rake should be 2". It might look a little off, but you might be able to live with it (I'd struggle).

    And don't forget:

Thanks for the diagram, I've been needing to adjust mine anyways, but the fiance always takes the garage door opener with her, so my tools are locked away. My truck sorta looks like Forrest Whittaker right now..

If your rears have gotten a bit tired like mine you’ll probably want the Dakars sooner than later. My icon expansion pack should be here today but until then I’m flying SoCal prerunner style

That doesn't look like too much lean. I've got te TSB leaf packs on mine that aren't too old, so maybe I won't look too awful haha

It’s not too bad until you park on flat pavement, then there’s about a 2.5” difference, how much the 885s settle is tbd as well. Icon claims 1.5” and removal of the overloads has been on my list since the tires I want are only in a e range.

OP, my recommendation is doing it all at once. That said, whenever I get parts in, I just want to go and work on my rig and don't have the patience to wait.

You could install the front and sell your stock parts and put that money towards Dakars. AAL is a waste of time completely; unless you're not hauling or towing anything.

I occasionally put a 4 wheeler in the bed, but that's not often. I hate to admit that, because I was chastised for putting a mountain sled in my old truck on another post. But other than that, it gets filled with duck and goose decoys, and in my single days a heifer from a local bar haha

Even when it measures level front to back after just installing the 5100’s at that height its still gonna look a tad nose high, i think its the body-line, esp with the long bed.

I threw a 1”block in the rear and that fixed mine, just just a tad of rake unloaded. I don’t wheel though.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
I have that set up, with an AAL, and it sits level. So given that, yes I would be sure to do something back there

Do the rear later. 1. Your truck will look stupid with a Cali lean and 2. Spend money on your home. Thats an appreciating asset you want equity in. Worry about the lift when you are settled in the house. As hard as that is to do lol

Yeah.. i'm trying to be thrifty. Right now with 5100 fronts, 885 coils, and icon UCAs, i'm into it just a hair over $600. I can run a block for a little while if I've got to, but I hate those damn things.

We're moving into the house in July. I'm buying it from my father for a really good deal, so I've got some time, but I want to save as much as I can in case something is broken at the house or to build my garage.

Once my fiance is out of nursing school, this truck will be a toy, and I'll buy a new one. But i'm more of a buy once cry once kinda guy, so i'm in a pickle on how I want to approach this being a daily driver right now haha

A home is always going to cost you more than you think, especially if this is your first home.

You will be happy you waited.
I’ve been waiting to do my lift for 3 years lol. It is so I can reno my first home and furnish it and my garage shop. Now I have interest in paying down the home lol.

I think you have a solid view of whats important. Keep it. Save until you get married (weddings cost more than you think too) and get in the house. Then finish the lift.
You will enjoy it more when you can spend the cash confidently instead of having a lump in your throat that it could go someplace better.

I had a really nice Ford back in the day. Bomb ass truck with mods but I regret spending the money on a truck instead of on something longer lasting like my future lol.
