I daily my truck, should I be adding any additional policies to my auto insurance before taking it off roading? If in some freak accident I total it, is that covered?

I realize that's a pretty blanket question, but any insight would be helpful!

As long as you have more than liability insurance, you should be fine.

But it doesn't hurt to read your policy.

I would be very surprised if your insurance covers anything that happens off the pavement.

mine covers anything as long as it's not a timed event

It differs from state to state and companies on what they cover and don't cover
best thing to do is read your policy

Heh, you should be more concerned with making sure you've got insurance to cover all the things you added to the truck... Worst case scenario, you can have your friend drag it to the side of the road before you call it in. One of the many reasons you shouldn't be going out alone!

To my understanding, in Colorado, you're covered so long as you're on a maintained forest trail. Meaning, if it's got a identifying name (Forest Road 305, etc and isn't just some random path) then insurance covers you.

As other said, read your policy or call your insurance company and ask.

You need to speak to your agent. Strangers on the internet can only assume. Don’t take the risk.
