    Mainly due to budget. 8100 costs 1600ish bucks vs 350-400 bucks for 5160. Most people see it as “the rear is just along for the ride”

    IMO the 5160 can’t keep up with the 6112s let alone the 8112 when it gets really bumpy. It’ll get the job done don’t get me wrong, it’ll just be a bumpy ride in certain terrain. To me the better pairing was 6112/8100 due to both being the same 60mm piston. I know most would rather have the 8112 in the front, but trust me the 6112 is a damn nice ride and the dampening you get in the rear is COMFORTABLE!!

    Just my opinion though.

    Price and availability... trying to find Gen3 specific 6112s is next to impossible right now. Everyone is on national backorder and Bilstein has not provided any word as to when they will be available. You can run Gen2 6112s on a Gen3 (others have done this successfully), but it's not recommended by Bilstein as being "manufacturer specific." I had the 5160s in hand. I wanted to stay with Bilstein, so I went with 8112s. Per Bilstein, 8112s can be adjusted while on the truck and the rebound technology as explained above is impressive. The ride, with the Camburgs on my truck is very, very, nice IMHO. Finally, my thinking was that most of the time the front is doing much more work than the rear and that the 5160s will handle most of what "I" am going to throw at them and I'm not loading up the rear with a ton of weight.

    I'd rather have stiffer rear end than a soft one, personally. But, it's a truck. If the roads are shit I feel them. But, it's a truck. To me it's about maintaining the lifted ride height you're looking for while having additional weight in the back full time.

    I have had SPC UCA's on my Tacoma. The originals squeaked like a mother trucker. I had both replaced in October with new ones. Not a sound from them since. But I know they changed the ball joints in their design sometime over the last couple years.

    My truck hasn't been washed since... September?

    Not much point here in Montana. We don't salt the roads. And winter is long. And lately it's been below freezing so long there's no point in trying.

    Oh yea, mine hasn’t been hand washed since October. To cold lately or it just rains when it is nice outside in Va. ceramic coating helps keep it looking clean through the winter time.

    the front clunking you were getting from the OME stuff may have been the front coil over assembly constantly topping out because i believe the OME front shock is actually about 1/2 inch shorter than stock, when you combine that with 3 inches of lift there is very little down travel hence the clunk. mine did that allllll the time with stock UCA's and i hated it. I don't know the length on those fancy 8112's but i hope they're in the mid travel range and offer you that extra inch of down travel when paired with nice UCA's. same for the rears, make sure for all that money you're getting a long shock that will give you some flex in the rear, like 26 inches minimum extended length is my opinion for stock mounting

    • Coilovers are ride height adjustable at the lower spring seat (0.5" - 2.5".) with spanner wrenches included
    • Coil Free Length - 14" / Coil spring rate - 600 lb.
    • Coilover extended length - 22.5"
    • Rear bypass shock extended length - 24"
    • Rear bypass collapsed length - 14.38"

    I think you went for the most expensive three suspension parts you can fit on factory geometry. Do you need it? Does anyone need a 700 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Heck no. But if you can afford it. Why wouldn’t you.

    Only thing I would say is metal on metal transfers vibrations. Just like your uniballs were annoying, heims will be similar.

    Great intel on the heim joints.

    I went with the Bilstein brand because it is what is currently on the truck, and Toyota has a great partnership with Bilstein. Bilstein has been engineering shocks for Toyota trucks for decades.

    I also replaced my 1st Gen OME shocks with Bilsteins, and they were fantastic.

    I chose the 8112 series because it’s the top of the line in the Bilstein series. It seems like the choice Toyota might have made if there was a factory option beyond Pro/Fox.
