So I've run into a weird issue after installing. Randomly, the unit/switch panel will power on by itself. I have the green DRL wire on my Baja Designs S8 wired to switch 2. Switch 2 is set to power on when the unit powers on. Some times when I go out to the truck the amber DRL of the bar and the switch panel have powered themselves on. I had an an add-a-circuit on one of the EFI fuses for ignition (arrow in the pic). I've now moved it to "INJ" (circled in the pic).

Would it make sense that the truck would be "doing things" with the EFI while the truck is parked and turned off? Is INJ the ideal fuse to tap to sense ignition? I tried A/C first but the unit would only power on if the fan was on...

Loving the unit and powertray otherwise and everything is working great.

That is strange. I have an s8 amber lights on switch 8 and never had this (that I know of ).
I set up that switch to only activate with ignition and to remember is its last state (which is always on).

Could it possibly be turning in when the truck does that gas fume pump check randomly?

Yea I just read about the "Fuel Evaporation Leakage Check" that happens 5 hours after the engine has been turned off. Maybe somewhere in that process, the EFI circuit is powered? I guess I'll wait and see it happens again now that I'm using the INJ fuse..

I've read through a couple threads on this now (and others looking for light switching options) I believe the SP is the answer.

My primary desire (as far as function) is as follows:

    1. Light bar on with hi-beams, off with low beams. (Seems easy enough using the trigger wire.) I've got no use for the light bar if the hi-beams are off, so this one is easy.

    2. Backup Lights.
    a. off all times
    b. on with reverse
    c. on anytime

So, using the two trigger legs (one for hi-beam, one for reverse) I can accomplish this. I understand I lose "lights on panel dimming" by using both trigger points for this.

I want to be able to enable the hi-beam trigger and backup trigger when off road, so these lights only come on with hi-beam (in the case of forward facing lights) or reverse (in the case of backup lights).

BUT, I also want to be able to easily hit a button to bring on backups at any time for boat launching & retrieval / camp duties / nighttime firewood cutting without having to toggle out of the "off road hi-beam / reverse" function in order to enable the straight on/off mode for the backup light switch.

In this instance I'm fine with taking up two switches to accomplish this since the backup lights will pull double duty as area / work lights. Being able to have them come on automatically in reverse, while also being able to easily "one push" turn them on and override would be very convenient out in the sticks.

Any problem with wiring the load side of the terminal block as follows? (Forgive me for borrowing a pic here).

    SP BU.jpg

So in this instance, switch 3 would be controlled by the trigger mode (reverse), and switch 4 would operate the backups (anytime on) independently of switch 3.

Sorry, long winded way of saying I don't want to screw with toggling the trigger mode on and off just to get the backup / area lights to work anytime I want, while still in the "reverse trigger" mode and having that convenience of the backups coming on automatically when I throw it in reverse.

I'm taking up 2 switches to run one set of lights, but I'm good with that in this instance if it's not going to create any issues.

Hope I'm making a lick of sense....it's almost 2:30 and I've been up far too long tonight.

I don't know for sure, but I THINK the switches can be programmed for trigger AND push button. That way you'll save a switch

I don't have one to mess with yet, but from what I was reading, it appears (could be quite wrong) that the "trigger mode" enables the switch operation. Push the switch, lights come on anytime hi-beams activated. Push again, and lights stay off with or without hi-beam activation.

If there was a "hold button to override" feature on the button, that would work, but I don't think it has that (other than just toggling off the trigger via holding center button and #7 switch. Kind of a pain just to get a light on...especially with gloves on.

On the bolded... I don't think that's how the triggers work. If you hook a trigger light to the high beam circuit, and program it to turn on a bar when the high beams turn on... it'll always do that logic. You can also turn on and off the led bar independently of the high beams (also... if you turn on your high beams, your LED bar will turn on, and you can then turn it off wihtout turning off the high beams).

But the trigger overrides the switch panel's state for the linked switch.

I think. unless there's some advanced programming of the 9100 I don't know about.

That would be perfect and give me the true SPDT feature I'd want. If that's how it works.

Also, anyone know if the SP is non-volatile memory? Would suck to have to re-program anytime the battery got disconnected.

I think it's a solid state, so it would retain the settings

Could call Switch Pto and ask, they may even have a statement of volatility. No idea if settings are saved via solid state or EEPROM. Eitherway I assume it saves setting when it loses power

Well, picked one up and am gathering parts to do a nice install. Going to set this thing up on the bench and start landing wires possible this weekend.

Playing around with it tonight. Got some test lights and a bunch of jumpers to test out all the functions. It will do just what I want.

So, say the light bar and other lights are set to be triggered by hi beams:

Ignition on, switch off, low beams on, light bar off.
Ignition on, switch off, hi beams on, light bar automatically comes on.

And of course the SP switch will manually turn them on or off. But I don't want to have to toggle the off road lights off every time I hit the hi beams on the highway, and don't want the super bright backups coming on every time I throw it in reverse in town.

I want the convenience of "all off" (light bar and squadrons) as soon as I back off the hi-beams off road, and "all on" automatically when the hi beams are switched back on. (Same for backup lights with reverse trigger).

So I thought I might use another switch with "memory" engaged to control a DPDT relay to enable and disable the trigger switches. Played around with that tonight, and it would work beautifully. But what do you know, as I read and played with it, I learned the SP has the capability already. Hitting "menu" and #7 disables hi-beam trigger. Hitting "menu" and #8 disables reverse trigger. And this feature "latches" or holds memory regardless of ignition on / off status. Hold menu button and tap both #7 and #8, and both disabled / enabled until you manually change them again.

    Slick.

Any word on if you ever made a cover for your terminal panel? I just finished up my wiring and am looking to cover my terminal connections a little better than they are currently.

Just got my switch pro installed. Problem I have now is when I use the remote start the lights I have connected (ditch lights, and bed lights) turn on as well. How do I make it not do that?

Got it figured out, it was a setting on the switch pro itself.

Your truck wakes itself up every once in a while to run essentially a diagnostic. When it does this, it activates the EFI circuit momentarily. That's why it comes on.

She's done for now. Have a few more lights I want to hook up but that will be easy now that the switch pro is installed.
