Hello I recently bought a 96 toyota tacoma for 3k thinking I was getting a great deal with all new parts well now its sits in the garage . I hit a PA pothole yesterday and the shock absorber came right out of the mount they were both shotty to begin with . the mechanic tells me that its part of an upper ball joint . I thought it was just a shock absorber. Well the bottom of it is like sqaure and it seems to be attached to the hub underneat. The top it attached to a 3 bolt mount higher than the strut . it is a 6 inch lift . it does not look like a rough country or any I could find online . I really would appreciate any help cause I have no clue what to do . I will get more pics asap. Thanks

Need more pics of the front and rear suspension. Looks like a body lift.

I hope it’s not a dreaded trail master lift kit.

there's at least a bracket lift on it.

When I hear "unknown lift" + F'd up balljoint, that makes me think trailmaster or rough country... If that's the case: kill it with fire (the lift I mean, not the truck). It would take some work, but the truck is likely salvageable.

I couldn’t tell if that pic was taken from the front or the side. If that’s the front then it’s defintiely a drop bracket lift.

Yea Idk much about lifts . I'm wondering if I weld the shock absorber to the mount if it will hold up ?

I would ditch whatever lift that is altogether and go back to stock. Get a proper suspension lift.

Can you take more pics so we can ID it?

that's really a bad way to try and "fix" your issue. All that would be doing is making your issue permanent.

Ill try and get pics tomorrow I guess I should have waited to post . I was thinking about having someone weld a washer to the strut And bolt it on top . the mount is detachable so it wouldnt be permanent. My cousin said it looks like an old kit .

Jesus H. Christ. Put that truck out of its misery.

I have never seen a lift kit like that.
