had a nail in tire. Had dealer put spare on. Adjusted my air since tires were high. Tried to reset. Started car. Held button til blinked 3 times. Let run 15 min. Just went on drive. Pressures aren’t coming back up just dash lines. Also weird that back rear had the nail and all tires went up 3-4 psi while driving but back rear didn’t move even though tires were rotated.

Spare wheel doesn't have TPMS sensor (after '09) unless something changed with 3rd gens.

Or are you saying dealer swapped tires on wheels to get your spare rubber on the wheel that was already on ground?

Spare wheel and tire is on the vehicle. Weird if it doesn’t have sensor since I was getting a read before I reset.

    Display shows 5 readings?

You may be able to look at the stem and tell if its a TPMS unit or not.

The spare is on the vehicle now and I was getting a reading for it before I tried to reset tpms. So it must have a sensor ?

3 to 4 psi change from cold (not driven in a few hours) to hot (~10 mins of driving) is very normal, does that explain why the 3 good ones went up? Ie you were measuring cold vs hot temp.
My spare has a TPMS, but I don’t think that’s normal for the 3rd gen. But the Tacoma displays only 4 wheels, not 5, so how were you measuring the spare TPMS before?

I wasn’t lol. I had four readings. Then I took bad tire off and put spare on so it was a new reading. Still four readings. Now that spare is on all four are good Tires so all should go up 3-4psi

Yes all 4 should go up if the spare has TPMS, and it’s redistered with the display. The TPMS in the Tacoma wheels are constantly transmitting, unlike most vehicles where the TPMS only transmits while rotating to save battery life. So if the bad tire is within range the display could still be picking up the bad tire.

Is the bad tire hanging under the truck? If so, its likely trying to read that.

Where is the tire with the nail?

Let me guess, in the bed.

yes it's in the bed. update i drove 25 miles to work mostly highway and still no tpms readings. Is this because the spare has no tpms? should i still get 3 readings? do i need to push the button again before i start driving? taking tire with nail to Sams this weekend to hopefully get patched, otherwise i'll just have them switch the rubbers and get the other wheel back on.

Do you have a Discount Tire company in your area? Do yourself a favor and use them. They’ll get everything fixed up.
