Just as the title states my less than a year old Tacoma needs a rear dif.
Brought it into Toyota vallejo for its 15,000mile service and mentioned a whining from the rear. Had a tech ride along to confirm, and three weeks, 3 trips back and forth to the dealer, and failure to communicate on their part, i finally got the truck in.
They said it should take all day.

Anyone else deal with this out of their new truck?

I’ve already had to bring it in before for transmission issues.

    Sad.

I had mine done at about 8k. New diff lasted 300 miles, then started. I am at almost 70K and no issues other than the noise. There is a TSB for sound material under rear seat. Some people on here have said it works mostly. I have not had it done.

Couple giant threads on here about the rear diff whine. TSB parts help to quiet it but usually don’t get rid of it entirely. I had to buy my own as I have an SR5. No luck with corporate with a real fix. Hopefully you will get lucky on a quiet new diff!

Mine whines way worse than the normal howl noise and already has the TSB fix as factory new. My dealer is supposed to compare mine to other cars on the lot, but has been screwing around and worthless for the last two months.

They did that for mine and said it was far louder than any car they have.
Hope it stays quiet. New trucks shouldn’t have this issue.
