Alright so at first we were going to go to the Mark Twain forest until I found out they don't allow anything bigger than 50in wide. So my dad went ahead and emailed SMORR to see if we could reserve a campsite for the weekend. He sent all the info for dates and time and so on. We got an email back saying the sites were first come first serve and that they'd see us tomorrow. So fast forward a day we're loading up the truck hoping we don't forget anything like usual. Then we think we're ready to make the 3.5 hour drive. So we get there and the place is empty. We go knock on the office door no answer, we call the number and leave a message. Then we get a call back and they say they're closed. So we're like we just drove 3.5 hours wtf. So she calls the owner and sends him over we get a free pass or whatever and then we decide to head over to flat nasty. So they're open 365/24/7 and we're like alright hopefully they aren't closed for some reason. So fast forward the 1.75 hour drive up there. We get there and the office is locked up it's around 1745 but there are some clipboards with waivers and payment info. So we're signing the waivers and paying and we hear a side by side cruising up behind us so we turn around to say what's up, and its a buddy from my dads work. Most random thing ever that we meet up with them but we head down to the campsite with day 1 pretty much wasted but happy we met up with them. So we get to camp and ask if it's cool if we set up by them and it is so we set up and go sit by the fire. For dinner, we have a nice bluegill and spoonbill fish fry in Andys Cajun spices with waffle fries, baked beans, and homemade tartar sauce. Then the guys who are watching the place while the owners are out wheelin across 'merica or something come motoring down to the site to see what the hell we're cookin. So we sit there and bullshit with them a while till they gotta leave. Then we bust out the moonshine all take some swigs and hit the trail for some night riding and a tour around the park. The ride was smooth except one tight spot which woulda been easier if our dumbasses would have taken the running boards off. So now I gotta bend the bracket back straight again which is a fucking pain. So we get back at about 2400 and the whole damn place is fucking wrecked (MO was on a wind advisory). So after cleaning the place up, we go to bed. I wake up around 0930 and everyone up except Pat (Jason's the guy my dad knows from work, Pat's his best friend and Jared is Jasons brother). Jasons already got pancakes and deer sausage cooking and Jared's kids are trying to wake Pat up. So we eat breakfast and go hit the trails. We had to turn around on trail 20 because it was so washed out the side by side and truck would've been leaning in the trees. So we go hit the bunny trail which used to be easy 15 years ago but is now well worn and rutted. We only make it to the first connector because trees fell right over the path to where the truck wouldn't fit. So we ride the service trail through a couple huge water holes then we helped pack them up. We go back to camp pick up our stuff and run through some more mud holes. Then it's time to go. I know this is long as hell for a 2 day trip but since the trip was so short I felt like adding the other details would be good.
