So I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma that i have named 007 Taco Pro

Its Build can be found here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/007-taco-pro.527692/

Its not your average "build" more of a rebuild / breathing new life into a high mileage old truck

check it out you might get a kick out of it

BUT this post is not about the rebuild or the wrenching adventure, I am finding that the brakes SUCK on this truck.

Back story: I am comparing it to my 2002 1st gen v6 4x4 std acess cab NON abs with good general grabber tires.

Forward story: 2007 Tacoma is a crew cab long box auto 4x4 with a new frame from Toyota :)

NEW (but not OEM toyota) best quality the parts store had
brake lines from new frame recall
    Brake lines on rear axle
    wheel cylinders
    shoes
    drums
speed sensor on rear passenger side
Side axle seals are NOT leaking
    NO ABS light
    Good winter tires

recent front calipers pads and rotors from P/O that are starting to pulsate and drag to one side

when i do the front brakes i will upgrade to the tundra brakes

    PROBLEM

It SEAMS like my front brakes are doing all the work
I hit the brake the truck slides in the snow or ice forever with the funny abs sound noise coming under the hood. NO ABS light on while the funny sound is happening

it does not seam like my back brakes are doing anything
i hauled off the rear drums LOTS of brake dust
3 cans of brake cleaner and they are all clean reinstalled and adjusted
its better but still kinda sucks

Is it that i am not used to stopping in snow / ice with a truck equipped with ABS ?
    No weight in the bed
Is it fair to compare it to my 1st gen ?

    Thoughts ? ??
