Maybe it's because I have such a light truck, but I never air down in sand and have never gotten "bogged down" in sand. I'm running 31" BFG AT's (same diameter & width as you). I also have a Detroit Tru-track limited slip rear diff (Torsen-type), that may help me some. I used to run arroyo bottoms a lot. In 2wd it's a different story, of course.

    I have too many Toyotas...
Everything... and a bag of Cheetos.
I don't spend much time in the Puerco, but the last time I was out there I had no trouble at street pressure (32 psi). I visit the Great Sand Dunes NP at least once a year and drive the Medano Pass road through the dunes... never had trouble with that one at street pressure either. A lot of it depends on the tread pattern and size of your tires. Current moisture content of the sand is huge, too. After a good rain, the sand at the dunes is like a normal dirt road, but after a long dry spell it has the consistency of sugar.

Short answer... I don't like the hassle of airing down/up so I don't do it unless I start having trouble. Usually that happens on snow runs, which is when I air down the most. I normally go to 15psi to start, and the next step is 12psi.

    Deflate using these > https://www.amazon.com/Teraflex-480...re+deflators&qid=1551286761&s=gateway&sr=8-12

You just screw them on to the valve stems, and by the time you work your way around the vehicle back to the first corner it will usually be close to where you want it. Verify pressure, cap it, move to the next, and so on.

I air up with a modified Superflow MV-50 compressor. I ported it and upgraded all the electrical and it tested about 25% faster than an off the shelf unit. I can go from 12 psi to 30 in about 4 minutes per tire. Not super fast, but it works and it was cheap.

Awesome thanks guys that’s pretty helpful I’ll have to check out those compressors/deflators!

I'd figure our trucks are fairly close in weight give or take a few hundred pounds. Anyway, to clarify a bit since I've only had this truck for a couple of months I haven't really had the chance to get on some dirt other than a dirt parking lot. So with that said I suppose I wasn't really driving like normal starting, stopping, 2wd, 4H, 4L, pretty much creeping the whole time but it still didn't feel like I was getting enough traction. Not so much to the point where I was going to get stuck just didn't feel the way I was expecting.

Greg's golden goat is a single cab 1st gen. Probably close to 500-700 pound difference.

Went up to Jemez yesterday, had a great time although every forest rd I saw in sight was closed, so didn't get to adventure much. Had a decent amount of snow!

I would absolutely recommend Poughkeepsie Gulch in addition to your listed trails.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
I'll go. Just picked up new batteries for the Taco and hopefully will be running shortly. Been on those before so let me know what questions you have. I have a new phone number so shoot me a PM and I'll get it to you.

Granted that mine is a DCLB and weighs as much as a sack of rocks balanced on a toothpick........I run 10 -12 psi, and use the deflators that were recommended above. I usually just head over to a nearby gas station to air back up, depending on the situation. There have been several trips that I have stayed aired down for multiple days so I dont have to play with compressors (Moab, and Ouray, etc.) But other than that I'm at 40psi for normal driving.

@Whitecloud awesome man well I think my friend and I have an idea of what we want to do. Once we get it finalized I can let you know and see if it’s something you’d be interested in doing.

On another note I’m off tomorrow and pretty much free Saturday. So if anyone is interested I’d like to do a half day run somewhere. Preferably morning to early afternoon let me know.

Just outside of los alamos, forest rd near American springs. I wanted to get a small trip in to test everything on Aliner. Furnace, stove, and fridge functioned perfectly.

Lol, there I was about to fall asleep at 10:45 or so, suddenly had a surprise knock on the door. Two guys had been wheeling their ranger and got pretty buried in the snow bank. My winch is on its way but luckily I always have my snatch strap/shackles with me. Got them out in no time, and got some sleep lol!

On a side note I posted in the NM thread about the meet you mentioned which I might be able to make if there are spots available.

BUT I’d love to get out again on some trails I’m some what booked on the weekends until the second weekend of May but maybe we can get something planned inbetween then and that other bigger meet?

Pic 1 was taken in the bosque north of Alameda in early March, pics 2-5 are Piedra Lisa trail at the north end of the Sandias... taken during the storm two weekends ago. Pics 5-6 were last Sunday on a kayak float from Algodones to Bernalillo, taking out at Bosque Brewery for a post-float refreshment and food.

The spots for the event in Grant will likely fill up soon. There are 106 spaces left as of now, but remember they have allocated only 50 spots to each type of vehicle (Motorcyle / ATV-UTV / Full size 4WD), so the number of spaces left in total doesn't really tell you how many spots are left for each vehicle type. I would register sooner than later if you are considering going.

I'll be getting out again soon, but my focus will be a little different going into spring/summer. This month will be river floats, camping with the family, and opening our cabin in CO. May will be more camping, some wheeling, and CO trips ramping up. Summer will be mostly longer trips to CO and NNM.
