1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Any of you guys replace the LCA bushings yet? My right side is about gone, arm has movement. Left side is getting there
Supposed to go off road this weekend

 

Bosch appliances are very well made. They are not designed to be easy to work on or repair much but hats off to them, their stuff is a pain to work on and you really need to be a good tech and electronic and electrical testing need to be up to par. Spendy stuff

 

It's only a before the weekend job if you have 4 people and an alignment shop on stand by haha

 

Step 1: Remove OEM lower control arms
Step 2: Install long travel
Step 3: Take it off some sweet jumps

 

I like Bosch well enough for car stuff, I've basically studied the "car bible" a few times over, but I've never had the pleasure or displeasure of messing with their appliances.

Good book to add to the collection if you don't have it, it's pocket sized by the way so have some good reading glasses, the pages are vellum haha

Bosch also owns Gaggenau which is a high end appliance company

 

Mine only took me about 6 hours... I didn't have any ceased cam bolts though and I used a vice and ball joint press to push the bushings in and out.

 

Suppose it is the luck of the draw then, all four were seized on the one I worked on. Also moving the steering rack blows.

 

Any brand suggestions for lca bushings? Leaning towards Energy Suspension, a friend and I are gonna give it a shot Friday morning

The Whitelines are nice because you can press the old bushings out instead of burning them out like a caveman.

Interesting about those manuals or books, never heard of them. Sounds like a really good source of tech info and I'm sure the theories on operation carry over to most things they manufacture. I'mma have to keep an eye out for a lower price used one

 

Baller. I'm tempted to change over to HVAC but I really like the lots of different things I get to work on now. But if it puts me at double my income, sign me up

What's the appropriate single cartridge water filtration for a residential scotsman nugget ice maker? Primary purpose will be for keeping the hard water and mineral at bay to lessen cleaning frequency. Any ideas?

Plus the ES ones require the factory inner bushing sleeve to be reused. There was one thread where a guy who had aftermarket rubber LCA bushings could not use the Energy ones with the aftermarket sleeve because it was thinner than the OEM one

 

awww, I think the Land Cruiser battery has met its end. Still starts but it is getting lazy, even a hot start requires a few seconds now.
