I just pulled my fog bulbs from my TRD Sport, and can confirm they are H16 19W. Can anyone confirm if it is ok to run a H11 55w? I'd prefer not to melt the housing or overload the wiring. Note the Phillips X-tremevision H11 will not fit in my housing unless I trim the bulb tabs.

@crashnburn80 do you have any idea? I realize you are running 90w but is your truck a TRD Off-Road?

Doing a bit more research, there is two different part numbers for the housings. Question is whether they have different heat ratings. Given the part descriptions, I believe not as they both refer to 55W.

    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/parts-list/2017-toyota-tacoma/fog-lamp.html

As I did a bunch of google image searches, the 02160 part number seems to only show H16 bulbs while the 08020 part number shows the H11 bulbs.

I am actually running glare caped 65w H9s in the fogs now, but I'm about to try out the Rigid prototypes: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/page-14

Anyway, I believe the two are physically interchangeable. Whats important is that the filament is in the same location relative to the bulb base when comparing bulbs. The housing should be fine for 55w. I would imagine Toyota used the same setup all the way to the end of the plug for both setups where just the plug is different. Check the foglight circuit rating in the fuse box to be sure.

Different part numbers for different patterns. I believe the H11 TRD fogs are listed as 'wide angle' by Toyota compared to standard.

The H11 bulbs from low beam are not the same as the H11 fog bulb.

These three bulbs are oem from toyota :

    Part # : 9098113090 , H16, 19W , FOG
    Part # : 90981AD006, H11, 55W , FOG

    Part # : 9098113085, H11, 55W , LOW BEAM

Correct, the TRD Sport in Canada comes with a crappier H16 fog housing and bulb. I found some H11 housings from the US in the marketplace and am going to install those.

Seriously this is a ** joke! TRD sport in canada have the same fog housing as the SR5, the housing is for H16, every H11 that i tried didn't fit.....This is lame Toyota! H16 and H11 seems to be identical but they are not. impossible to fit h11 in those housing!

Why the f*ck you didn't put the same housing as the trd offroad!?

H16 19W, those fogs light bulb are a joke, they are as bright as an old 1976 flashlight

You might just need to trim the metal collar on the bulb with a dremmel like I did in post #402 here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...1-not-led-or-hid.435419/page-21#post-19856086

It is a good idea to use a thin piece of cardboard under the metal collar tabs to prevent nicking the seal.

I think i've found the problem, H11 and H16 bulbs are not identical despite all the info on websites or elsewhere that say they are.

Here's a difference between my two stock halogen bulbs : H11 55w stock halogen low beam bulb and H16 19w stock halogen fog light bulb.

The photo angle is not perfect but this give a good idea of the difference on the biggest third metal branch.

The top one is the only one that changes in differing bulbs, lowers are always the same. It also depends on how tollarant the housings are, some have larger tab openings than others that can make it easier. You can trim the bulbs to fit like I listed in the above post or pick up some 2nd hand 3rd Gen TRD H11 fogs, or 2012-2015 H11 fogs to make it better plug and play.

MY Canadian TRD Sport came with H11 55Watt bulbs..... (The difference might be "in the trim pkgs.)..? I've got the "upgrade" and the "premium" pkgs...........Moonroof/push start, etc.

Push start button came with the standard trd sport, i don't have the premium package with sunroof, iq charger, etc..., maybe that's why i have H16 fogs, seems stupid from toyota to have done that.....

Hey so i just bought some sylvannia h11 fogvision yellow just to try out. Didnt want to go in of course even though it looks identical and i trimmed the bigger tab as compared to the osram h16 it was the one to be trimmed. I looked at your post and you trimmed two of the tabs. Some reason even just trimming tje big tab i still cant get it to turn. Once i get this h11 in would it melt the housing as someone already mentioned here? I have a 21 double cab sr5.

Don’t know if this has been posted earlier on this thread,

the h11 housing have glass lens and h16 have plastic lens, I know this because I have had both housings on my hands.

I would not install h11 bulbs on h16 housing.
