No response yet from Bushwacker. I can't believe nobody else out there seems to have had this problem - I looked pretty hard to find mention of it, and even called a few people. I'm vaguely hoping that someone at the factory got drunk and put the wrong ones in the box.

The bigger ones are too aggressive for my tastes/needs, and the OEM ones are ridiculously expensive. I guess I'll try to rehab the old ones, in lieu of a better solution. It doesn't look too bad without them, but I'm not keen on the holes. Toyota wants $5 each for the orange/blue connectors. Hope I can find a suitable alternative at the auto parts store.

I'll let you know what I figure out with Bushwacker. Grrr.

Bushwacker just called. They're apparently aware that those flares don't cover the holes, but they haven't bothered to mention it on their website. I *wish* they'd bothered to mention that somewhere. Their pocket style flares also don't use those holes (you'd have to drill more), but they would cover the area.

Because you asked: My originals are missing the pads (the rubber strip) (not a big deal), I'd need to replace the expensive red/blue connectors, one is dented/torn, and all were badly faded and splotchy. I tried Forever Black vinyl dye that came out splotchy even after careful cleaning and repeat applications. I'm not sure what to try next....wet/dry sandpaper to even out the finish? Penetrol? Paint? Leaving the damn things off and ignoring it? The rhino lining solution is maybe more of a look than I really want. Toyota wants $5 each for the 26 connectors. I'm hoping I can find alternatives at the auto parts store.

    BTW, I'm a girl.

Its a common mistake that the boys here make - apparently they think all girls don't care about their vehicles:notsure: You'll get used to it.

And I'm just here because I am considering getting flares for my truck - no nasty holes to cover up though - and I want to see how the customer service is handled....that's all.

Hey Betty, you can get those connectors on eBay for about $10 for a pack of 10. They have 2 colors (blue and red). I ordered a pack of the blue and had a hard time getting them to fit into the flares in certain spots and not others. I'm not sure why. I did notice when I removed my flare that it had a combination of blue and red connectors.

Sorry to hear that the Bushwackers didn't work out. I was really looking forward to buying your stock flares :(
I have a theory on why Bushwacker didn't know (or seem to not know) about the holes on the 01-04. I think because 99.9% of our Tacomas (01-04) came with flares and Bushwacker original ment to make flares for the 95.5 to 2000 models which didn't have holes. And they just market it to the 95-04 crowd because the bodies are the same. What do you guys think?

I'm still first on your list if you decide to sell the stock ones, right?

The distance between the front of the bed to the wheel well is not enough for the cutouts to fit.

The red and blue clips are $2.19 a piece at my local Toyota in Bradenton, so I came out to $60 and some change for them. There's 26 in total, 18 red and 8 blue. I just bought them Monday and reinstalled my flares after taking them off to paint them. I had the flares off for about a month though and didn't really mind the holes.

Hey Josh. Do you have the part number for those clips? It sure would help us locate them easier and make sure we buy the right parts. I think I found some at toyotapartszone.com (part number 90467-11100) for .83cents a piece but I'm not sure. Could you verify? Thanks

You guys just made my day. Looking online was my next best option, but I still needed part numbers for the connectors and my local Toyota dealership has been particularly useless.

    Thanks!
