Anyone have a Pioneer AVH-600EX in a 3rd gen Tacoma?

Looking to swap out my head unit and was seeing if anyone has experience with this model?

 

Thinking of the same. Dam factory unit is junk.

 

I’m an installer and have installed plenty of the 601ex. Great stereo but honestly for the money people are bypassing that unit and getting a radio the has apple CarPlay or android auto. So cheap nowadays. Either way, if you have any questions I can help. If you just want to know if it is any good.... answer is yes

 

I have an sr5 with standard head unit. Idk much about stereos and such but I do know I would like a better function and possibly a better looking one

 

I am a huge pioneer fan. For the money I feel like you get a lot of features. Pretty simple to use. I will say the new alpine 650 is a fantastic stereo if you want simplicity. For once alpine has a stereo that everyone can afford. It does NOT have a cd/dvd player though.

If you like the 601 maybe look at the pioneer 2330,2440 or now the newest model 2550. 2550 has a few display changes but for the money the 2330 is and was probably the most popular stereo without going with the 4400

 

The 2550 looks really nice, I seen some threads about how certain stereos wont work with the steering wheel buttons or bluetooth audio. Would the 2330 and 2550 work? Both of those look nice

 

I don’t know of any issues in Toyota’s especially Tacoma’s that I have with swc. In 25 years I literally have done thousands if not 10s of thousands of Toyota’s ( all models )

Again, I’m kinda bias towards pioneer. Love them install them and wife and I have them. Also, I’m bias towards certain s.w.c. too

 

What's a good pioneer that will do wireless Android auto ? I'm looking for a higher end unit with a better touch screen .I don't really need DVD

 

I'm leaning towards this anyone have any experience with these ?

You need to make sure you either have a pixel or google phone otherwise you only get wired aa. As for the8400, it the flagship unit. Absolutely fantastic stereo. You are paying for mainly the better screen ( capacitive vs clear resistive screen ) and built in nav. If you don’t care about either of those another fantastic radio is the 4400. It is a full detachable face if you want for security reasons. If you want the better screen and no nav or dvd you get the great stripped down unit the 1400

Just really read your question... 1400 or 8400 are your options but again.... read what I said about wireless aa. CarPlay zero issues
