As a side note about accepting cash...be very careful. If someone gives you cash, for anything, and some of the bills are as fake (as John Travolta's hair)...the loss is yours.

I worked in banking for a number of years and we had a lady make a deposit and we checked EVERY bill for authenticity. One of her $20 bills was fake and we wouldn't accept it. She was furious and said it wasn't HER fault that she innocently accepted, what turned out to be, a phony $20. Our bank Operations Manager explained to her that she was the "holder in due course" (https://bit.ly/2UzOkFg) and the phony bill(s) was her loss! Then we cautioned her...keep making a stink and we would be happy to call law enforcement and their response time when a bank calls is pretty good!

Beware when accepting cash...for anything! When in doubt, take the cash to your bank and have them verify the authenticity of...each...bill!

More features and a newer vehicle in general. My Wife worries immensely that my current truck will just die on me because it's more than 4 years old. In *her* mind, you should buy a new vehicle at least every 4 years. Needless to say...I disagree.

    OME and worth every penny.
Yea, she needs to understand the opposite is true nowdays. Everything is made to crapout.

90's and '00s were the best vehicles ever made. Never to be equaled.

Since you're in California I say keep that thing for as long as you can. If you lived somewhere that gets anything more than a few weeks of snow per year then you'd either need to store it for the winter (kind of a fail for a 4WD pickup) or sell it to some poor sap who will drive it year round until the frame snaps.

Very true, but it's harder to fake cash than it is to fake a personal check, or even a cashiers check. A printer and some nice paper and you have a check.

If anything, just telling them you're going to take it to the bank before finalizing the transaction will be a great indicator.

Definitely a cashiers check, EFT, or cash. I always do my vehicle transactions at a bank. When we sold our last boat, we met at the bank and watched the bank print the cashiers check off. The bank will also have someone to
    Notarize things.

    Common sense really!
There's more risk buying a vehicle than selling a vehicle..
Cashier's check, made out to your name, on that date, from an accredited bank is the safest form of payment
Call me crazy, people rollin around on craigslist with $10,000 cash is more sketchy than going to a bank for a cashier's check...

I live in NoCal and found mine on autotrader. Guy posted his ad late on a Saturday night. I was first to respond an hour later and by the time I got down to see it (3 hr. drive) on Sunday , he had already had 10+ people ready to buy. Some as far away as Denver. He wouldn't accept a dime less than his asking price, I tried anyways and would only accept cash. In the end I was happy and he was as well. I bet he could have held out for few thousand more but he wanted a quick sale and he got it.
