Leafs and Shocks

Ok to start I do lack a bit of knowledge when it comes to these things thats why Im coming to you guys! I am looking to add new leafs preferably Dakar with OEM shocks for now. In the next 10k miles I will likely upgrade the shocks to Bilstein 6112 and 5160 set at notch 2 to add some height. To preface my tacoma is mainly stock but next week will be adding Method 309's with 285/70/17 BFG KO2s.

 

Hey! A few questions for you:

•Do you plan to offroad?
•Do you plan to tow?
•Will you have excess bed weight from equipment?
•Are you looking to keep factory Rake?

 

Yes i plan to do some light end offroading on some trails here in SoCal. No towing or hauling anything major, bed is empty. Keeping the rake for now.

Whats your suggestions?

I am just starting to get into offroading and doing a bit of overlanding.

 

6-leaf medium Dakar pack

I run it with 80lbs in the bed (bed mat and gear box) and it’s cherry once it breaks in

 

I am running the J66 Deaver with the King Hydraulic bump stops and I must say it's very plush and allows for a smooth rear end. I paired it with a King 3.0 2 tube bypass. Rear sits .5" taller than my front currently. It's rated at 1.5" but I have a tall sitting truck in the front as it is

Without a bump stop I can imagine the J66 being soft and a little harsh on bottoming out, overall very satisfied tho

I'm strictly offroad with no equipment, rarely tow.

 

I'd recommend the 5 leaf EL095R (2" of lift over stock on 3rd gen) over the 6 leaf EL096R if you plan to keep factory rake and won't hold much weight at all. It will be a lees stiff ride over the 6 leafpack. It rides really well for a set of leafsprings.
