I'm not 100% sure as I didn't do a thorough search, but I did encounter a Wire Harness Repair Manual. As I've not seen this on TW before, I bet there's some gold in there. In addition to repair info, the manual also has an index of all connectors, broken out by waterproof/non-waterproof and number of pins. I dug around and found the female connector you've identified. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an obvious male counterpart (in the manual). Best match I saw was 90980–12736, but if you look at the profile, it has a different shape. However, the pin arrangement is the same (albeit mirrored).

The manual can be had here: http://jeff.supramania.com/RM06H0E.pdf. Note that the copyright date is 2007. A cursory search did not reveal newer versions (it may be possible there are no newer versions if no newer connectors/techniques have been necessary).

Problem is thats a specific connector to a specific device. Strongly doubt there's a harness connector to match the female connector.

The next issue is the pins are all sold separately and are a huge pain to figure out which is correct.

    Splice, solder and modify.

Or (I'm no electrician) what about just cutting off the Toyota connector and getting a generic 12 pin connector? Maybe a Molex or Weather/Metri Pack?

Definitely doesn't need weather pack inside the car, but a good connection is critical. Generic connectors or the GM style is best. I just use generic and leave the cut connector zip tied inside the console incase of returning to stock.

If you only want the one wire from the female plug for illumination then can you just tap that one wire upstream of the female plug?
