    Hello,

I recently started to have a hissing noise on my 2003 taco. The noise is only there when u are cruising and not when accelerating.

It's more than likely always there, you just don't hear it when the loud pedal is depressed. Hissing sounds like a vacuum leak maybe

Can you tell where the noise is coming from? front? back?

There are these microphone things you can get, where you can (help) diagnose where a noise is coming from. There are kits that come with multiple microphones and it records the noise levels. Or a poor man's version with just a single microphone, you just have to move it around more.

Also, apparently, there's an app for that:

Is it by the glove box area? If so, the intake tube extension is right in the passenger fender and that is where you are probably getting the hissing sound from, It is like that on my Taco.

Starting fluid is your best friend for finding vacuum leaks in the engine compartment. Since all air entering your intake SHOULD be going through the air cleaner, anything from another source represents a leak.

Just spray 1-2 second bursts at the motor (esp top end near vac lines of course) from all different angles. When the spray is picked up by the leak, the RPMs will increase momentarily. I have found a lot of leaks that way.
