Hi there anyone else has installed a Weathertech bug deflector ? I just bought it online it's very well made . I'M having trouble installing it with the screw inserts it came with. I destroyed them . I was wondering if it's fine to remove the hood weather stripping under the hood to make this fit ? It's a 2001 I don't see how the plugs they provided will fit.Instructions say to put it between the weather stripping. I read several post on this problem. I want to use it I can get new screws and put it on without any weather stripping on the front hood. Will I have any issues with this ? Should I find new clips and screws to leave the stripping on ?

IMG_0366.jpg I have a WeatherTech Deflector on my 2001. I decided to install one after I found stone chips all along the front edge of the hood. Seems like it used push-in fasteners, or something like that.
I will check when I can get out there. Took me about 10 min to install as I recall. LOVE IT! You could probably find install instructiions on their website.

Yep; just checked the website. You have to remove the stock fasteners, and then use their included push-in fasteners to install. If you ruined the 1st - 4 that were included, I'm sure Advance Auto or AutoZone has them. Taken one with you so you can get the exact type of fastener. Attached are the install instructions.

I do have the instructions. The screws and insert plugs are too short to use with the weather stripping. I will take it to the shop I ordered it from and see what my options are as I ruined the 5 or 6 plastic inserts it came with. The instructions mentioned 2 rubber washers in the package I don't have those either. I put one on before but was a different brand and it just a stick on type .Your truck looks great !

Thankyou , it's the same instructions I sure could get them in to both the stripping and the bug deflector. I will go to autozone and try to get replacements or maybe they will have a better type mine just couldn't catch to lock in both . Thanks so much !

Glad to help! Good luck. On those push-in pins, you can sometimes make installation of them easier by using something like a 3/8" or so socket (holding it in your hand or on an extension) so you can push the pin in with more force. Will save your fingers too!
