    Here you go: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-2018-3rd-gen-intermittent-wiper-mod.397942/

I just went ahead and added these when adding the fog light stalk as they clip together.

Old in the back - no fog light toggle, no intermittent wipers
New stalks in the front - Fog light toggle and intermittent wipers

Anyone attempt this on a 2019 SR yet? I'm looking to do both the fog light and intermittent wiper mods. I assume it should work the same as other 3rd gens, but we all know what happens when you assume...

Okay final update. This one didn’t turn out like I wanted it to but I am settling for what I have. I got the CH 4x4 switch and installed it, now it works opposite of what I had before. That is, it stays on when the panel lights come on and when it’s switched on remains the same. No additional light comes on. It cuts off when I cut the lights off no problem. So it doesn’t really work like it did for @Nitori , but I am willing to settle for what I have. I am glad that at least I have fogs.

That's exactly the same way mine works. The instrument cluster light is what tells you the fog lights are on, and nothing else.

Just finished my fog light install. This thread was very helpful. Went with the steering wheel off method and was a bit nervious but all is well. I used this YouTube video as a guide.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KzQka16TCnM

Happy with the results and took. No time at all.

Excellent write up! I have a question: the unused connector that supplies power for the light to the fog light switch is actually used on my Tacoma for the bed light on off switch. Is there another power source I can use to run power for the fog light switch? Or is possible to tap into bed light switch wires and have power for both switches? Thanks again!

Well I took the plunge and ordered all the parts (I'm pre-wired).

    IMG_2754 2.jpg

We'll see if this works in my 2019 SR! I'll report back here.

Great writeup! I did this today with steering wheel off method. Swapped in a pro grill while I was at it.

Some pictures and notes to help others....

    1. The torx screws holding the airbag in were really hard to get loose. I ended up attaching pair of locking piers to the end of my bit driver to get more torque to get them started.
    2. Once the airbag is off, you see the picture below. I unplugged the top middle and top right connectors as to not damage them when yanking the wheel off. I didn't see an easy way to unplug the airbag cables so I left those attached. You will also need a deep 19mm socket for the wheel nut in the center because its recessed so deep. I was barely able to get it with my wrench, because the end of the handle starts to hit the outer part of the wheel. I used the piece of tape on my dash and on the wheel so I could re-install it at the same position I took it off. Wheel definitely required a good yank to get it off.

    3. Not sure what the next plastic assembly is called (I think I saw some calling it the clockspring?). Anywho, as others mentioned, its got three tabs circled below.

    4. Then disconnect the wiper stalk (and add intermittent wipers while you're at it!)

    5. Finally remove the light stalk, its got three tabs at 12, 3 and 6 o'clock. Even once the tabs were popped it didn't come off easy. Another good yank was required.

Putting it all back together is a breeze....just snap, clip, clip, plug, clip and you're good. (Don't forget the wheel nut or to re-tighten the airbag screws!)

Thanks Nitori and everyone else that chimed in with their experience.

    You're worried about $2?
A bag of 4 screws at Lowes is at least $1.39
How much do you expect to save and you'll still have to drive to True Value.

I'd also like to know the stock screw size. Living in Alaska means those $2 screws cost $15 to ship.

Anyone know the bulb type that's supposed to fit in those side markers?

Thanks to @Boghog1 for the info:

    #10 x 5/8 screws

The pigtail is for a 2825 bulb. I found this pigtail on eBay that corresponds to the Toyota and Dorman part numbers:

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/163063500905

    I also purchased this switch:

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/122197361848

And these Nokya pigtails for H9 bulbs (I’ll be running OEM Subaru Legacy fogs with a glare shield, not stock Toyota OR lights, see @crashnburn80 ’s thread on ultimate halogen fogs here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-foglight-upgrade-h11-not-led-or-hid.435419/ )

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/122248053630

For TRD Fogs or any H11 only setup, you’d want these or something similar:
    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/163151989367

The pigtails are 14ga, I plan to rewire the body connector pigtail for the larger wire gauge.

Should be able to make a body harness for under $40 this way.

Achievement unlocked! The fog light (pre-wired) and intermittent wipers mod done on a 2019 SR with everything functioning as it should. Thanks to @Nitori for an awesome mod! Also to @Roll_Terps , @lax22 and @bourbonbyte for useful pictures and videos that helped along the way.

:mad:Oh boy! At my age and well into my zombie stage, I think I'm going to have to leave this to the professionals :help:. Any idea what the dealership will rob me for? What about a specialty shop (Seattle, WA area)?
    Yeah, I'm whining.

I have a question, and yes I did read the entire thread. If you can do the intermittent wiper mod simply by installing the correct stalk ( and not removing air bag and steering wheel ), why can't you also simply buy the stalk with the fog light funtion and do the same? ( assuming the SR is indeed prewired for also the fog lights?

Look at post 201. The wiper stalk is the top right piece and light stalk is the rest.

Now that I look at the pic better, I see there is no tab to lift up like the wiper stalk. I'll have to check for pre wiring when I do the wiper mod. Thanks for the reply.

I don't have the lights yet, but I decided to get a jump on things and at least get the switch in. Yes the truck is pre wired. I did everything like in the first. Problem is the switch has lights when ignition is on, but when I turn on the lights, they go off. Could that have anything to do with not having the actual fog lights connected?

Ok reversed all 4 wires on the switch, like Nitori told someone in post 115, and almost there! Switch wording (fog light) illuminates when the headlights are turned on, but now , when you press the button, the fog light symbol kind of pulses on and off,????? not really a flicker, but it isn't on all the way. GRRRRRR

As a side note, I had someone stand by the fuse box while I pressed the fog light switch........ he heard no sound from the relay so I would guess it's not working. ( it was a relay sourced from KIO Auto by cross referencing the Toyota Parts Number) Also hooked up one old Piaa lamp I had and nothing ( I do know they work so it ain't the lamp LOL ) I'm at my wits end. :annoyed:

Well at least I have a nice new fog light button that almost works......1/2 way there:bananadance:

    All suggestions welcome:hattip:

Well something is definitely wrong if you are getting a pulsing effect, definitely unhook that layout because to me that sounds like current is going where current should not go.

99% of the issues in this thread are related to confusion stemming from not using an OEM switch- the reason being most every aftermarket company does 2 things:
    • They assume you are switching a positive load (you're not)
    • They don't stick to any sort of unified pin layout so it's all a crapshoot, and sometimes the illumination circuit is integral to the switch somehow.
So the very first step would be to definitively figure out what pin layout your switch has (look at any instructions, product listing, etc.), and we can try to work from there.
