2 days in a row now my 4x4 light (green light) flashes in the morning when I start my truck . Goes away when I move forward as I hear a relay working on the passenger floorboard. Obviously I’m gonna take it the dealer but just want to know what to expect .

They'll probably replace the actuator under warranty. Make sure you clean the truck especially underneath before you take it in.

X2 especially if you went off-roading / mudding.

Weird, maybe you hit the actuator too hard with water or something. Do you have a front skid plate? The skid should protect the front diff from debris and water hitting it too hard directly. I'm not all that familiar with the 3rd gen layout but if it's the actuator on the front diff that's acting up it seems it would be hard to really mess with that from underneath unless you don't have a front skid plate on.

Water might have shorted some electronics involved with 4wd mode when you sprayed the undercarriage few days ago

well, as they say shit happens and maybe it was just on it's way out already or something at the wrong place wrong time got at it just right. Should be replaced under warranty unless you have a difficult dealer.

    Bad actuator (99%) chance.
    Damaged wiring to actuator (0.9%).

It is very likely not an issue with transfer case, if they say you need a new one.

(Ran into similar issues on forum before, here is an example).

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/truck-stuck-in-4-lo.594223/

In your case, 95% chance the actutor has a bad connection internally, when you start and the relay closes, it moves the actutorsslightly and probably cleans off some crap from the electrical wiper or something similar.

Can diagnose with ohmmeter or techstream if you want, but just warranty it. (Note, expect it to get worse, possibly rapidly).

    My 2 cents.

Update : SA says he sees this light often an set up an appt to bring back tomarrow. Said it’s drivable an if something happens to call an have it towed . I recorded him saying this as he set appt up 10:30 am . I’m in dealer parking lot an haven’t left . Drove from work to here which is 2 blocks total .
