    Something just struck me, will it pivot on the single bolt? Would it be better to make the tab longer and put both bolts through it so it can't be flipped up?

    A well-prepared thief can use a cordless impact to undo the 20 or so torx screws holding down the plastic inner tailgate skin, and just pull on the latch actuating rod to open the tailgate. That is, if your bed is open without a hard tonneau. Of course, most tweakers aren't at this level of preparedness.

    Some Chevys are vulnerable to having the lock cylinder punched in with a chisel and sledge. Not sure if the Tacoma tailgate handle has similar vulnerability.

    Is a tailgate with TRD Pro emblem worth more than an SR5 tailgate on the black market?
