Hey folks, before I spend $150+ at the dealership getting my locks and ignition replaced I wanted to find out if any one else has had the same problem as me.

Over the years the locks on both passenger and driver doors have worn out. On the driver's side I can unlock with my key but I cannot lock with the key. On the passenger's side I can lock with the key, but cannot unlock with the key. This makes me think that the locks have failed in the same way but since they would be mounted in reverse for opposite sides of the vehicle.. they are having the opposite problem. Should I tear open my door and try to repair this? Or do I need completely new locks. If so.. would it be a huge pain to replace the ignition as well or am I better off just carrying two keys going forward?

Do you have an original key to try, one with with little or no wear? Sometimes my locks will get notchy and finicky when the key gets worn past a certain point. Then I cut a new one from the original and use that copy for a few years, repeat process.

good thought! I have two keys, one of which has significantly less wear. Unfortunately I don't think the problem is with the key.
