None of BDs lights are DOT. So they cant be used as fog lights, but if you want some good AUX lights (augment your high beams) then the squadons are awesome for that.

Is it a round hole? If so, our Squadron-R Sports will be perfect! These measure 3.5" which will fit nicely in that bumper. The Wide Cornering pattern (Amber or White) would be considered street-friendly and up to driver discretion when used with other traffic. It's not DOT approved.

With an aftermarket bumper, do I need to buy the fog light kit for the wiring harness adaptor to make it plug and play?

@Baja Designs, I hear there is a new Baja “sae/dot” fog light coming out soon, would you also happen to be making them for 2nd gen 05-11? The Morimotos I have are decent, be they lack overall brightness.

Baja Designs | SAE Approved Lighting | 4/25 UPDATE

Our team is working hard to release the SAE approved lighting. The ETA is currently set for June. White will be the first color released. We are currently working on getting the Amber finalized. I hope to start Pre-Orders soon. Please keep an eye out for details!

Note: There will NOT be an SAE Lens Kit available. SAE approved lights use a completely different lens and optic compared to the normal Squadron. Customers will have the option to send their light in to be upgraded, I hope to share pricing and other details soon.

@Baja Designs What is the difference in light output of the non SAE vs the SAE on the Squadron Pro models? How does the SAE lens change the overall lighting effect?

We don't have any direct output comparisons we can provide. Unlike a lot of the competition, our lights accept a variety of different lenses that can be changed easily thanks to uService technology.

This allows you to customize the pattern and fine tune the light output to your application. You aren't stuck with the pattern you buy. Change vehicle or application? Buy a lens kit and change the pattern

This is just one of the reasons customers choose BD

I don't have a spec comparison I can provide at this time, We are working on finalizing all of the details. SAE Approved lights are intended for street use and will have less off-road performance compared to the Squadron Sport and Squadron Pro. The pattern of the SAE Approved lights will have a distinct cutoff to avoid blinding oncoming traffic

If I’m buying the plugin kit for a 05 tacoma does it matter if the squadron sports are round? I see the R in some of the squadrons and so I’m wondering what is the roundness for? Is that for a after market bumper or something?

The Squadron or Squadron-R will work. It doesn't matter what shape they are since the bezel isn't used. The standard Squadron is typically built more and has a higher chance of shipping faster

The round models are for certain bumpers that have round openings or customers that prefer the round look

    Squadron SAE | UPDATE

I wanted to post an update on the Squadron SAE. There was a delay in receiving LEDs for these units and we aren't able to receive production quantities until late July. The good news is Amber was approved and we will be offering White and Amber lighting upon release.

ETA has been moved to Late July / Early August. I'll post more updates as we have them

    PRE-ORDER COMING SOON
