As promised, here's the write-up: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-generally-specific-bs.603370/#post-20432418. I am no electrician but nothing has exploded or ignited so far, and since the charger is the only current draw (and less than 1A at that), I think it is safe.

Finally got it and able to install it. Pretty easy to install. Wife is jealous and wants one in her Highlander. Taco any chance you can make for other cars like Highlanders?. Here are some pics with the mount installed.

Here’s how I did my wiring for USB power 7 months or so ago and everything is still working great. It would be easily to route the USB cords through the top of the dash/DMM versus the bottom of the dash like I did it.

I remember reading that when I initially stumbled on this thread. Your write-up is orders of magnitude better than mine. Props to you for taking the time to be so thorough.

Looking to buy the “DMM + 2 ball mounts + swivel magnetic kit”

Does it come with a a total of 3 ball mounts? (assuming swivel magnetic kit already come with one ball mount)

That is the same kit I ordered. It does come with 3 balls.

Mine are heat shrinked for that all black on black look. I tried the sharpie method on the right one, but didn't like how it came out
    [IMG]

I'll have to clean the dust from my dash and get a picture of the finished install here soon.

I've had my DMM for a couple months now and love it! Was looking for a mount that didn't need suction and was sturdy and this fits the bill! I just got the anker wireless charger mount and wanted the wires to be hidden, but I did get the new one with slots for that option. I just used a harbor freight rotary tool that I got for like $6 to make some for myself. Managed to make some small hole big enough for the wire to fit and I'm happy with the results! 20190423_132522.jpg 20190423_132528.jpg 20190423_132544.jpg 20190423_132940.jpg 20190423_132945.jpg 20190423_133202.jpg 20190423_133108.jpg

Hi... I am ready to order one of these. Does this selection mean I get 2 mounts (one for each ball) or just one?

What are most people using for power source? Battery wired with fuse through the fire wall or fuse tap?

I'm plugged into the live wire on the trailer bracket harness tucked behind the left kick panel. There is a nice ground point right behind the HVAC panel.

If I ever get a trailer brake controller, I will have to revisit that.

I have found non-keyed power to be really convenient at times.

I use the quad lock case and attachments. I use it mostly for the MTB phone mount but also got the truck ram set up with a 1" arm. Super easy one hand lock and unlock. They also have a wireless charger lock that I'll be looking into upgrading. Only con is I lose the battery sharing on my samsung s10+ due to the quad lock case location.

1 DMM assembly, 2 ball mounts, 1 phone mount kit (which may or may not include a third ball mount - I ordered the magnetic mount and it did.)
