Limiting budgets and staff is something to look into as well IMO.

 

@ryanjboutin I like the idea overall, a great way to help the lower tier teams. Also the big teams might try to exploit this rule by furthering engine development with a lower ranked team, which also might be good for them. IE, williams has secured the bottom two positions this year and Mercedes would be involved heavily in their extra preseason testing and engine development I'm sure....

@velillen I might disagree with you here. While what you say would make sense for cost control, I think F1 is still the premier racing/technology sport in the world. Technology and innovation are intrinsically linked to the identity of the sport. The technology development should have very little hindrance put on it. I have a sincere disdain for the way NASCAR has implemented their take on innovation and cost control on the sport. I think its strangling them. Controlling and verifying budgets would be almost impossible to regulate. The more I think of it, the more I like Ryan's suggestion. It certainly would encourage innovation by the back of the pack, while not just redistributing success in the sport.

Leclerc drove well but was screwed over again by the brain dead Ferrari brain trust. They really need to fix that. Great run for the pink folks and orange folks! WTF Ricciardo. Bottas is a different driver this year than he was last. HAM has his work cut out for him.

 

You think Ferrari should have 2 stopped Leclerc ?

 

At least if Mercedes has to win it was Bottas

Understandable, RIC knew he did wrong there.. why would he push to brake late in that corner when he had DRS coming up shortly ahead? Both the Renault cars didn’t seem at home in Baku..

 

I think they left him out too long, hoping to reel Seb in closer is my bet. That retirement by Gasly might have screwed Max too. He was flying and might have passed Seb for a podium.

 

I think Ferrari got caught off gaurd by how quick the soft tires degraded for everybody else and tried to keep Leclerc on a 1 stop hoping for a safety car

 

Leclerc was on a tear for a while... we was catching up and passing people left and right. I was super impressed. But then "reality" set in, and he fell back some...
