You can unzip the rear window on the tent and lean down to lock it. Then hoist yourself back up and zip yourself in.

If anyone can, you’re a prime candidate! Just pop open one of those giant windoors and reach around the outside to lock the back. You’ll make at least a thousand people jealous in the process!

In all seriousness, it doesn’t seem feasible to use the keys to lock the back glass from inside the Drifter, if that’s what you’re thinking.

If security is your concern, you could use simple material to keep the latching bar from rotating to clear the frame. Some PVC tube or wood could work. I could take some example photos if you think it might help.

Lock? Why would you lock it your camping. If you mean close the lid that’s easy, you get down reach out and close it. I tend to grab the latching mechanism.

Re: locking. There are a lot of interesting folks out camping and we just rest easier knowing someone can't just walk up and open our camper while we are sleeping. Anyway, Anderson - you are spot on. With the Alu-Cab awning we are able to reach down and feel and lock via zipping down the back window. Geomo - unforunately the front runner windoors don't unlock from the inside so that alas won't work, but since we can use the 'Anderson' method, we're covered. Thanks all.

I used a piece of paracord on the inside that allowed me to crack, or “lock” the window shut from the inside.

Awesome man thanks for doing that. I will have to measure when I get home in a few months.

Good news I've got time until my camper is ready !

Cool, glad you found something that works!

I snapped a couple of pictures to illustrate what I couldn’t elegantly explain. This is a piece of 1/2” EMT that’s slightly squashed to fit over the latching bar. Cut it long enough so it can’t rotate beyond the strut support. A big drawback is that it’s
    One.
    More.
    Thing.

this is pretty smart. I like that. Could probably make a pocket for them to sit right there in the corner too so you dont misplace them.

I just use the dog locking method. People tend to not open a camper when they might lose their hand.

I'm not to worried about security when camping in a tent. I never had any issues when setting up a ground tent or a RTT in the 25 years I been camping. If someone wants to get in they can just use a knife and you are inside within seconds. Yes it is nice to have a inside lockable rear gate especially on a $10k camper like the Drifter, but for me its not mandatory. I mainly like to primitive camp where it takes a modified vehicle to get through the a difficult trail. I can see some security reasons if one likes to camp at more developed camping sites near the city.

You must be camping in some dodgy areas aka downtown Seattle or the local walmart in Tacoma if that is happening. All kidding aside, to each there own, but I would be finding some different camp grounds if this was a problem.

I used the first one around all 3 sides on mine, and it's been great.
I specifically decided against that second one cause I wanted the ability to sweep dirt/water out through there, and I knew my dog at the time would end up destroying it anyway. Though I know numerous people have been really happy with that style on theirs.

My biggest issue now is at the top corners of the tailgate where it meets the hatch. Mine is sealed up really well everywhere else, but I got a ton of dust in through those two spots on my last trip.
Mine might be worse than most due to an early version of the 3rd gen hatch-to-tailgate interface, but if anybody has a solution/recommendation for that area, I'm all ears.

I used both of those. I really like the one that closes the gap at the bottom of the tailgate. Makes a huge difference in dusty conditions

Potential stealers on our forum! And you all ask why I want to lock our camper? (okay, Joshua, couldn't help myself with that one).
