Which front cam for stock '19 offroad/sport grill

    Hey guys,

    Seems like most ppl run the NATIKA camera as the main option for the front facing camera on a PRO grill... but I'm looking to keep my stock '19 offroad grill. Has anyone tried mounting a camera to the stock grill for the anytimebackupcamera mod and if so, which camera?

    I’m in the exact same boat... literally. I was making all kinds of different brackets for the stock grill today... nothing successful yet... don’t really want to drill a hole. hopefully I can figure something out tomorrow...

    Haha yeah man, I want to stick with our stock grills now a days to be a bit "different." Love to see what you come up with. Gonna take a closer look at our stock grill when I have a bit more time too

    Yeah, I don’t have a TRD Pro... Not gonna act like i do... once I dipped my grill, I liked it way more!

    Here’s what I came up with so far...

    1 - Above the TSS

    Pros: can’t see the camera, easy bracket to make and mount without drilling and using stock grill screw placement.

    Cons: camera too deep which makes the viewable area crappy...

    2 - Below the TSS

    Pros: Bracket was easy to make and mount. Placement is still decent

    Cons: Upside-down image, you can see the camera...

    3 - Below the TSS (Flipped Camera)

    Pros: Image right side up, camera sits flatter against grill

    Cons: Need to figure out a better bracket/mounting solution. Mount doesn’t look clean/flush...

    I know exactly what you mean, after I dipped the chrome surround... I was all in on the stock grill!

    Dude, that's legit stuff! The last one, #3 doesn't look too bad actually! How did you make that bracket, or does the camera come with it?

    I could've sworn that camera had the ability to invert the picture. One of the three or so wires that can be cut to configure various things.

    Just used an aluminum flat bar that i had laying around. Easy to bend and cut... it’s about 1.5-2” wide. Cut a piece off and bent it over the workbench. Cut the corners off. Drilled a hole, Painted it black.

    So version 3.1 - Below TSS

    There was a white wire and a green wire, but cutting the white one it flips the picture the correct way. Like flipping a negative.

    The green one allows you to have the guide lines or not. I cut the green one to take the lines off, but then couldn’t decide if i wanted it back... soooooo... I had a little cheapy switch laying around in the garage so I spliced it in between the cut green wire and not I can turn it off or on...

    That is correct. Because I used the unit from Car Solutions, the red and black wires both go back to the head unit along with the yellow AV cable. What comes with the cameras is usually only a few feet.

    Couldn't be happier! Hit the MODE button on the steering wheel twice to view either the front or rear camera; no extra switches to install!

    I like where I mounted my camera because I can see the corners of the license plate bracket and judge how far I am from objects while still having the rest of the image unobstructed.
