Man they've been going full overland on their new inventory lately. New TRD Tacomas with CBI bedracks / rotopax / Maxtracks / roof racks / Hi-lifts.

They had a matte green 4Runner out there this past weekend on 33" MT's, roof rack, ladder, etc.

It's all really good looking stuff but it kills me they install spacer lifts on everything.

Yeah they take a $40,000 truck, add $2,000 worth of upgrades and sell it for $55,000 on the sticker

There's no active group around anymore that I'm aware of. For a while there was a small group of guys from Ft. Benning that would get together and ride the trails on the back side of the base, but they've long since moved to other bases.

There's a community-created trail map floating around, but I'm not sure how often it gets updated these days. It does have some trails around our area here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Ql0ziGJAKsIypInacCFVfmenkmo&usp=sharing

Surprises me that with the number of built Tacomas you see around Columbus we don't have more activity around here. Unfortunately there's just not many places to ride.

Idk about 'built' Tacomas. I've maybe seen 1-2. But the number of mommy and daddys money Tacomas with 22s and all that jazz sure is growing.

You're not wrong there either. I see a handful of overland builds out towards Ft. Mitchell semi-regularly. Rtt, racks, etc. Most of them are 3rd gen but there used to be an amazing white 2nd Gen over by the ranger section of Benning I passed almost daily. I think most of the rigs you see around here are from guys on base.

I will say I’ve seen quite a bit more “built” tacomas recently. I see a lot of overland rigs out in Hamilton and suprisingly a few around the Bradley park area. Anytime I see one I’ll park next to it and If they are involved with the community I would imagine they would say something but they never have. I did see a blacked out 3rd gen with armor and a bed rack etc near columbus park crossing about a week ago and I’m pretty confident there was a Tacoma world sticker on the back which was really cool to see. I wish we had a bigger community around here but there’s really no trails to ride so I understand why there’s not one.

If you haven't been, I definitely recommend a trip to Talladega National Forest. It's the best we've got around here that you can plan a day trip around. North GA is fun, but you're spending ~8 hours round trip on pavement just to do 3 or 4 hours off road so you need to plan a weekend around it. You can make TNF a 2 day trip if you pick the right side roads. I've got a full loop in a GPX file, but it's been at least 2 years since we last completed the full thing so I'm not sure that all of the connector trails are still open. Also a few months ago the most aggressive trail 600-2 was closed due to an easement dispute and I'm not sure if it ever reopened. We usually do an annual trail ride every winter, but we postponed it this year due to that trail being closed. Pics from our last trip are here, just scroll down a bit: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...stly-modest-build.433701/page-7#post-27458530

If we catch a wild hair and decide to hit TNF I'll post in here and you're more than welcome to join. The more rigs the merrier.

You can ride 600-2 from one side(don't remember which side) and then have to turn around at the gate on the other side. Still not sure how that easement was stopped even being private land now.

That's good to know. I just wish I knew exactly where the gate was. We always ran 600-1 to 600-2 then finished the day hanging out around Cheaha state park. If the gate is near the Hanging Rock Rd. entrance or the Adams Gap Rd. entrance then you can easily bypass that section of the trail on Clairmont Springs Rd. If it's the hardcore section on the southern half that's gated off then that's a total buzzkill because that's the most fun part.

To my understanding(and take this with a grain of salt). It's blocked off at the start after 600-1, so you have to ride it "backwards"

@Brian422 will know. He's our local guide, I just follow him :D

Yes only one side of 600-2 is gated. A guy bought the land near the entrance and its about 100yards of land in front of the entrance on the non cheha side so he put up a gate. Right here. Like @gixxerphil said you can run the trail you just have to turn around and come back out the same way. I know its a major PITA.

Mannnn worst possible spot to put it! The last couple of times we were in that area we noticed it looked like someone was doing a bunch of grading down by the water and on the adjacent hill for a cabin or trailer or something. Thanks for pointing out where the gate is, that's super helpful to know. Maybe they'll get things sorted out soon.

I’m a little late to the party, but I mostly see rigs around north Columbus and Uptown. I live out in HC near Hamilton and there just aren’t a lot of guys here surprisingly. Very big jeep scene here though. I drive the black second gen with the prinsu rack btw.

Actually there are a lot us in HC. Going to HCHS last year, there were around 4-5 of us with 1st gens, about 4 2nd gens, and a handful of 3rds. But just driving around HC for so long I've even seen another green 1st gen just like mine just without a cover. It's just for all of those people I just talked about, I only ever talked to 3 of them and we never went offroading at all.

Yeah, I graduated in 2018. Even then, most trucks were starting to turn into all the squatted shitboxes. I can’t imagine how it is now. Y’all should go try rough edge and cold springs over in pine mountain some time. I think a member linked a Google maps somewhere in this thread or the Georgia section.
