First Time Bike owner

    Just Bought a little 125cc dirtbike from a guy i trust pretty well but since I've never owned any kind of motorcycle what are some things to keep in mind? Also like whats the general maintenance I should remember to do? Also the bike runs well but the plastic is a little scuffed and I'd prefer black over the blue so would I have any luck with Plasti Dip?

    Thanks for any advice you could give me!

    Lots of great info/advice here.

    Next, get a service manual for it, don't rely on internet experts, trust the engineers that built the bike.

    Most maintenance is bike/year specific, again I'll fall back to just referring to the manual.

    Generally, for most bikes, you want to keep the air filter clean. You start sucking dirt into the engine, and it can ruin your day. I clean/re-oil after every ride. Keep the chain properly adjusted/lubed. Most bikes will have a 4-5 hour engine oil change interval.

    If you want black plastics, just get a black plastic kit for it, they're relatively cheap. I can't imagine Plasti-Dip would last long on a dirt bike. Just keep in mind, it's a dirt bike, and it's going to go down, so those shiny new plastics are going to get scuffed up, especially if you're new to riding.
