Bed cubby.

I did a search and could not find anything specific to this. How reasonably water tight are the cubbies in the bed? Not needing 100% submersible to 50 meters type water proof, just 'weather proof'. Thanks.

 

I find mud and sand in there all the time from the holes that the cover goes into. I leave the covers off and masking tape off the holes in the cubbies when I go offroad to keep the cubbies and bed clean.

 

I put my straps in some waterproof bags. Agreed that mud and water get in there all the time from the bottom (I have a tonneau cover and the cubbies still get wet).

I bought some black duct tape, applied over the slots for the cover, then pushed the cover through the slots

I have the cubby caps as well. The installation was easy. They fit perfectly.

Prior to the caps my bed cubbies filled with silt and mud when driving wet gravel roads.

Yeah those cubbies are basically useless IMHO. Why have a container to keep stuff out of the elements if you'r just going to let a shit ton of water and dirt in???
