If you are heading up that way, don't forget South Dakota.

There is so much to see up there. We were in SD for a week, and saw half what I had wanted to. You could easily spend a week in ND exploring. And Montana... ;)

I've heard parts of Montana are gorgeous. I'd love to see it. Only part of the US I haven't been too now is up that way!

    Awesome trip and report!
Was out there on my motorcycle in 2011 and 2017. Back out about the same time as you in the Taco with my son.
Angels landing was closed when we were out at the end of August.

I can’t get enough of that area.
Back out next summer to try to figure out exactly where to move and to hopefully hike Angels Landing. To many people in North Georgia for me any more.

Awesome. Angels landing was closed when I was there too. I loved it out there. Love how there's not so many people crowing the area. I said if I could ever move anywhere other than the south it would be somewhere in Mid Colorado. It's beautiful.

This is awesome! Do you have a map of the routes you followed and more broken down timeline?

I do! As far as time line, other than getting from KY to Colorado, I really didn't have a time frame. Just wanted to see what I wanted too and kinda broke it down by days instead of by the hours I was at a location. I was a little ahead of schedule when I picked my friends up in Phoenix so I stayed there a day longer than I was anticipating. Wish I would've gotten to spend at least another day in Moab too but after 2.5 weeks, I really didn't want to get home the day before having to go back to work.

Looked somewhat like this minus the change in not going to Havasu and cutting across Burr Trail road to the southern tip of Canyonlands instead of going up towards Capitol Reef.

    What I loved:

    • Colorado was way more beautiful that i anticipated. My jaw stayed dropped around every curve i took. I tried to stay stay on back-country roads and away from main roads as much as possible.
    • I enjoyed traveling alone and taking in the views on my time way more than i expected. Don't get me wrong, after a week i was ready for someone to talk to and communicate with on a basis, but i loved it!
    • Enjoyed the RTT more than i thought for that long of a period. I could be asleep and then ready to go before my buddy could think about having his ground tent up or broke down.
    • Having my route and tripped planned on my tablet beforehand. The tablet and route i had planned worked perfectly on the backcountry app. Had everything pinned and ready to go, worked flawlessly. Even when i got on foot and hiked, worked like a charm!
    What i wish i would've done
    • Had more time for Moab. Spent 2 days there, not enough to see and wheel what i would've liked to but had an awesome time.
    • Spent more time in Colorado. The views and scenes in Central to South Eastern CO were wonderful.
    • Timed the ride home a little better. Spent 24 hours driving back to Kentucky, kinda rough and smelled badly.
