in a nutshell, replace the oil, seals, and refill nitrogen. basic shocks are non rebuild-able...but also cheaper.

No the OME and Bilsteins do not need rebuilding. It’s worth it if you value the ride and use them off road. If you’re just trying to fit 33” tires like I have said from the beginning OME set up or Bilsteins 5100. Keep it set at 2.5 so you don’t need to go aftermarket upper control arms.

:rofl:I’ve had to educate myself too! And it keeps going back and forth. All my research points at 51’s all around, AAL and call it a day. Wont spend a ton of money but then again I’m not taking it in crazy off road settings

I believe I’m just gonna try the 1.5 notch I’ve heard it gives a little better ride and I should be able to get a bit bigger tire. The fun stuff is fitting the 285 little bending little cutting from what I hear. And yeah the 5100’s should last you, like you want.

if you just get 5100's and keep the stock springs, the ride will be harsh from setting the pre-load higher to give the lift

So it doesn’t really get any better just going down a notch? Hmm so maybe get the springs.... good spring that won’t raise above 2in? I’m wanting to do the same thing but afraid of lifting too high in the front and messing with UCA and putting too much stress on other parts. If I went up higher in the front to say just under 3 and it didn’t need UCA or whatever else would I need to raise the back a lot?

Getting paint on hood and roof in a few weeks then lift/level, then wheels. Trying to put the 285/somthing/17 or 18’s. Haven’t figured out how much I’m going to lift yet and which coils/struts/shocks I’m going to use. Luckily for me a guy who owns a lift and custom shop just moved in the house next door:yes:

for prerunner no sense fooling around with lift coils/shocks, just do lift spindles.

Yeah maybe but I do have 140,000 miles on the shocks both front and back need to be replaced I could go with stock struts/coils and shocks in the back and then do the spindles...I don’t even know about the spindles thing. I have much more to learn:anonymous:

Spindles will keep your stock geometry, no need uca’s. Can use stock shocks, find some low mileage takeoffs.

What are you trying to do? I was reading but this thread went all over the place???

    3" lift? for looks????
    What size tires?

I'm doing a ProComp 6" lift with BFG KM2 35x12.5R18 at the end of the day with Motometal rims 18x10 looking at around $3,500 for the lift and wheels.IIRC?

I'll be doing the install myself when my truck hits 500 miles.

But if all you're looking to do is a simple leveling kit then that can be done with Bilstein 5100 like mentioned before. Bilstein from 4WP will be $225. The 5100's for our year trucks will give you 2" of lift.
That should bring your truck level.
You can fit 285's but you may need to trim depending on how they set your alignment.

I gave up a long time ago on buying fancy coilers and a lot of bling under my trucks. I never ever clean them and in a few years they'll look like Crap!
They do serve a purpose when doing hardcore wheeling. But that's wasn't what you were looking for.

Read the links in my sig if you'd like a crash course in lifts.

    Good Luck!
