Yea like Mike said, probably better going in from the Lake Alpine side since you’ll be going down the new obstacle. Although the winter may have packed the dirt well. The dirt was super silty back in Nov and it was difficult to get traction going up.

New entrance is really tough. I went there last year when they had just opened it little while ago. I am sure by now people build a by-pass. Another option would be to come from stair case side.

Came down 70 to camp with some other Coleman Collectors last weekend at Lake Pillsbury, a 4X4 group, mostly Jeeps were in the Oak Flat CG also. I camped Thursday afternoon thru Sunday morning. They were fine except for going over 5MPH thru the CG raising some dust. No water there yet, so we had to visit the Navy Camp CG next door for aqua that a sign said to boil water, I drank it anyway, I'm used to drinking water when backpacking. Five hour drive for me, poorly signed road off of 20 to the lake, luckily I had GPS so turned it on finally, was only west too much by 10 minutes while still in Potter Valley. Lots of Poison Oak, so Repo pup was on leash most of the time. Most of our group worked on lanterns and stoves, only a little looking around the area. I took a small chainsaw to cut some dead Manzanita for firewood. I heard there were some areas people could shoot junk, but I didn't have a way to legally transport weapons, but was mentioned I could have had a rifle in my cab. No one went shooting, so I would have been by myself. Was told by one guy that the places to shoot were trashed by people leaving junk behind.

If, by fun, you mean fucking torture then sure that would be a great weekend to do it. I like to wheel a lot more then I like crowds. I tend to stay away from events like that at all costs. The amount of rigs stuck on obstacles or just flat out broken would drive me insane. I'm not a patient type. lol

I don’t know. It’s not as crowded as the jamboree weekend.

I had no problems driving in but I went the day before.

If I remember right, I talked to a lot of people who came in on the Tahoe side which I guess was a total cluster. We went in Wentworth and never had a slow down. We did skip the big (or “old” I can never remember) sluice and went down the slabs. That sluice was definitely a zoo.

I'd be Down for the the marlin crawler event.seems like they lowered the price. The price is what usually keeps me out of these events .

Not enough to have a build thread.
Think you're gonna make it with all this rain and snow coming down?
