So this is totally just me being picky and trying to make my truck perfect for me. But most of the time, I roll around with the screen off. I've got a nice "Screen Off" image that I like to keep up. And for the most part, no big deal. I can get most every other bit of information from that in the screen of my gauges.

However, something that got overlooked that ISN'T on that screen, is the time. Just a simple clock so I can see if I need to be moving a little faster or not.

So, anyone else get annoyed by this and make a fix already? I searched the forums but didn't find anything. It doesn't have to be something that I gotta rip the dash apart and install. (Though I'm not above doing that) But something that looks better than a stick on from Pep-Boys. Something with some style. So let's see em, Folks.

..... Or I'll just be the only one annoyed by this and I'll eventually figure out a good fix and post it here. 4.jpg

I mean, we have watches, phones and other sources for time data. I personally could care less, then again I drive with my screen on. But if you really want a clock bad enough to dock the infotainment unit, just wear a watch.

.... Thank you for not being helpful at all and talking just to talk then? My phone stays on the charger that I don't want to have to reach for every time I want to know the time. I can't wear a watch at work and don't see me buying one just as a "truck watch".

So yeah. Anyone actually have anything helpful in regards to what I asked about?

Fine I'll answer this then since you want to be smug...

You are the only the only one that will be annoyed by this.

Then so be it. I understood that could very well be the case. But the whole point in posting here was to brainstorm with other people that may have come across it. Maybe someone else needed a clock mounted somewhere for a reason. Maybe someone had a good one that they have mounted in the back of their truck in a camper that would have worked great for my needs. Not to ask your personal opinion on wearing watches.

And I would argue that my response was in relation to your perceived smugness. So you take your pick. We can go with you started it and we can end it here and move on? We can say "Ok. We both fired a shot in there. Let's reset." or we can both just go on about our business and keep our mouths closed if we're not going to say anything helpful or productive.

Personally, I would prefer to get back to my original point.

All I did was recommend a watch and you go off on a rant. Sorry you don't like that answer. You really don't like the infotainment, provide feedback with corporate, maybe they will incorporate it into a new model years down the line. But you asked for thoughts and opinions and this is my third one. Again, sorry it doesn't fit your criteria.

You could maybe find a small digital clock at the dollar store and attach it to the dash somewhere with velcro strips

Thank you for your thoughts and opinion. Unfortunately, a watch will not work for my needs here.

Fair enuff, that response would have sufficed from the get go. Hope you find what your looking.

That's kind of where my brain is at right now. I was contemplating making a switch box anyway that mounted into the sunglasses holder that would flip down. It WAS a "down the road" project. But now I'm thinking I might take out some of the switch slots and mount a tiny clock screen into it off to the side.

I have not seen anything that will pop in easy. Maybe there is a clock you could mount inside a blank switch spot?

Sucks that LivinOnEdge cannot just leave things alone and has to be a jerk about things, kinda makes this forum worse having this crap.

Meh. It's fine and sorted and moving on now. Nothing worth anyone wasting any more time on. And certainly nothing worth turning into a bigger thing.

If you don’t use the GoPro mount you could mount something there. Depending on the type of clock you might not need to wire it, or could use the power to the mirror to hack into.

This would be interesting to see actually, gopro mount used for a small data pad, but has to be small enough not to obstruct view.

...... You know, I hadn't even thought about that. I do have that mount just sitting there not doing anything....

Well crap. Thanks a lot. Now even if I don't put a clock there, I'm gonna have to figure out something. You pointed out how perfect of a spot it is with power right there. lol

Easy to run a charging cable down the pillar, under the glove box, into the center console trim and into the arm rest too. I have my GoPro mounted as a dashcam, looks almost like it came with the truck that way.

The other idea I had been toying around with was getting a small LED clock, gutting it to the essentials, and then mounting it to the rear view mirror. Just over the top of it so that it didn't obstruct any views and slightly off to the side. I couldn't figure out a way to do it that didn't look really "unbalanced" though. And I never thought of anything to balance out the other side of the mirror. But maybe if I mounted it directly in the top-middle...

I'm a time freak myself, but instead of rewiring & hacking your vehicle. The next time you're at a dollar store or something similar, buy a fist full of cheap clocks. Round ones, rectangular ones, different colors, whatever you can find. I stick them on EVERYTHING at home. Dirt bike, road bike, riding mower, push mower, ATV. This way when I'm outside I know how much time I wasted doing the stupid shit I do :)
Double sided tape & leave em on till they break, then throw them out.
