Just a few I snapped a min ago real quick. The frame looks ok since I have it coated. There was a few spots around a few bolts I seen some rusty water bleeding out. So that’s not good. Honestly I don’t have much faith in the long term durability of this frame. While the truck isn’t horrendous I say it’s not very good for being a 2017. Would hate to see what ya like in 5 more years

Our trucks are cost optimized to death. They do not use stainless hose clamps and fasteners. They will do the job, they are not going to split right half in two without warning. I see plenty of 20 year old Tacos on the road up here, in exactly the way I don't see 20 year old Dodge Rams.

Rams up here are famous for disintegrating into tiny little flakes of rust the size of your thumbnail after 8 years. Toyotas, no. There was a problem with the second gen frames though - the dealer lifted my friend's body off the frame and dropped it onto a brand new one. Took them a solid week, all paid for by Toyota Canada. He is going to drive that truck for another 15 years I'm sure.

There was a problem with 1st and second gens. Not just first gens. Toyota did a buy back on the first gens. Then after a while they started doing frame replacements. Then it carried over to the second gens. Now it’s really sad to think the 3rd gens are effected too. Most of the first gens in my area have rotted out. Still a few on the road that people are running into the ground. Not sure if they haven’t a clue how bad they possibly/are or if they know and just say screw it. Personally I’ve seen some pretty bad and unsafe frames. Not sure where you live but if it’s anywhere in the salt belt I’m sure those trucks have problems too.

Need pictures of the frame. But honestly from what you've got, Alabama would bother me more than the rusty reservoir

Wow didn’t even realize it was a Rwd. Screw that than. 80k on it and a Canadian truck. I wouldn’t pay 17k for that

Where I am we spray light machine oil on the frame and the insides of the body panels every two years.

I'm just going to say that there is no possibility that a gen 3 truck has any corrosion issues from being driven in Canada unless it is a flood truck. There is no chance that Toyota would still have corrosion issues on the gen 3 frame, it simply would not happen.

From some of the info gathered so far toyota has a service campaign that supposedly includes 2016-17 Tacoma’s for a corrosion spray. Officially not much has been released. The trucks are too new to be rotted out yet so I guess time will truly tell. But these frames don’t seem to be holding up very well to say the least. I have lost faith with these frames.
