Here is my ground cable, Pretty gross.
it wasn't as bad as I thought, I would say there was more strands connected then not, still not ideal ( not tot mention all the insulation was cracking off. I cleaned it up real good with electrical contact cleaner, sanded the battery post as well as the connector, she's definitely a solid connection now

    En6ym3BRkxXH1wNsT7m6jMJ4we1NPbOUpP11WUxX_481d90cd5edd746f3d5fc5e72a48a7dcff2e72b1.jpg

Here is the Alt. for the plastic cap that protects this, you just have to "grip it and rip it" lol. Mine was brittle, and I broke off some clips.

    mpRgR8JNCMQJ6Z74c9pCGm1XCGNkIMJuFMYYgOEU_a970d0b4cc5790ff2b9101c0d6aff1484d2e7640.jpg

After fixing the grounding cable I crossed my fingers and fired it up, but alas, it was not that simple. No Change, Nada The voltage from the rusty alternator post to the negative battey post was the same as before starting the truck. Pretty sure she's dead. I poked at the Green fuzz that was around the nut, and what ever was under it ( a big copper looking washer ) disintergrated upon touch ( another nail in the coffin for being dead ) I looked at the parts Diagram, and that rusty "post" is attached to all the Diodes ( I think ) so to replace that part, is about $136 from TPD ( Toyota Parts Direct ) not to mention what else may be past its prime and needs to be replaced.

    lJd5QOXzFAR48jM2DV2XzdP6xuVf-cjrxpgG_DHd_7a2663e546ba4f9dbf7377d6fe8f9e87a6d2dd03.jpg

I sprayed some penetrating lube on the rusty bolt, and I was afraid of snapping the post off completely, that sucker is STUCK! and being just a itty bitty thing, I doubt it would last the impact.
I decided to leave well enough alone until I had a replacement in hand.

Many thanks to @Canoehead for the loan of the charger, I'll have to keep charging the battery every night until I get this fixed.

    Napa Wants $365
    TPD wants $514
    Friend of a friend $280

I'm going with the Friend of a Friend approach I guess they still have their Mech License and get discounts on parts :notsure:

Help me out and don't say tacoma lol.
If you were buying a new truck not a Toyota what would you buy? I didn't think about it till recently and need for get some thing quick and don't have a lot of time to research. Was thinking the new Sierra AT4 crew cab regular box. Not sure though. Price is not the biggest object because the company is paying it. Just can't be ridiculous

I like the F150 V8. The Chev V8 trucks will always be a good choice. Dodge can rot in scrapyards. Ecoboost motors are stupid and I don't respect them. The Tundra has lots of power, but eats fuel like it's going out of style.

Depends, do you need a work spec truck, or a family hauler, or a truck that can tow?

Just want something nice as a daily driver and something I don't look wasted driving to meetings and stuff. I was with a couple guys driving BMW and Range rovers the other day and I wheel up with a long box 3500 work Truck loud as fuck and I looked like a bum lol.
Was thinking the new Sierra is nice with the 5.3 incase I tow a bit but I still have the Cummings 3500 ram to tow so it's not like I should tow with the new one

Should have said has to be a regular sized truck. If I was getting a 1/4 ton it would be a Tacoma 100%

Was so cheap for a new 1ton I had to buy it. Usually it just sits in the parking lot unless we tow but I have been Wheeling around in it lately a lot

Alternator is fixed, Core returned ect.....
pretty un-eventful job, took two hours due to the fact that I had a tough time aligning up the bottom bolt holes and at one point was questioning if the Toyota bolt would actually thread into the aftermarket alternator. Turns out I was just waaaaay off

now I'm all horny to get an aux fuse box setup so I can clean up the spaghetti of wires going to my battery :)

for you NB Boys, Any "easy" wheelin around the Moncton Area? Visiting my sister and her two boys and was thinking of taking them out somewhere, so pretty much anything off pavement is good. Not looking to go crazy, but slightly more difficult then a dirt road would be nice

There are trails off pine Glenn rd
There are some dirt roads that turn into ATV trails

I found them last deer season

What exhaust are you going with? My muffler has 3+ holes forming and could use a replacement.

On a more shitty note: I busted out my back window on the passenger side on the weekend.... Loading an ATV of all things! :woot:
I priced it out, and to get an oem slider from Oregan's and installed at a glass place it will cost me $1,020 after taxes... or I can switch to a solid back glass for $560 after taxes..

Decided to spend $30 on some plexi-glass for the meantime and patch it up till I can spare some money (Mainly spending money on house reno's for the next while)
