I used to pull 25mpg from my 82 even at 600k miles........5 spd, no ps but had AC. Tanks. This one is a 33 yr old truck exempt from expensive inspections in most places. It's a 33 yr old simple reliable vehicle to maintain and drive. If price realistic with condition then can't go wrong. I beat the crap out of mine for 27 yrs and it smiled and asked for more.

Depending on which state you live in, (in my opinion) rust is the biggest issue. Because I plan to keep mine for a long time and still do upgrades, so I want it to be rock solid. I made the offer on my 1982 based on rust. Parts for this thing are absolutely everywhere, so basic old car maintenance shouldn't be too bad. I'd make sure that the engine and transmission is in good condition. Fluids, rebuilds, and history should all be considered. Don't buy it if they rebuilt a major drive-line part by them-self, because god knows if they got something wrong or not (also my opinion). If they sent it to a professional shop for it to be rebuilt, then that's a bonus. I say this especially about the transmission, because the 1979-83 L-series transmissions aren't as strong as the more popular G and W transmissions that went from 1984-1995. (lots of opinion, sorry)
