Damn. I wish I had more garage space, I’d get a rowing machine. Might try and see if I can get one of those swim devices you hook yourself in to so you don’t go anywhere but are still swimming. We have a HOA pool so I could probably just hook up to the in/out stairs thing.

Without getting into if you should or should not get one, do you have the space to put a row machine if you could fold it up? Because I have one and when you store it, it only takes up like 2ft square, and some fold even smaller than that. They're fun to have.

Because heart health is important. And I'd like to not be gassed and winded as quickly as I am.
I'm sure I could squeeze one in. We only have a "1 car" garage. There's already a squat rack in the back, a stand for my adjustable dumbbells, foam roller, bands, etc., plyo box, 2 bicycles, and then all my surfboards. We don't park in there, so I'm sure I could probably find a spot along the wall, but it's already cramped as it is. Both the girlfriend and I would love one, we really just don't have the space realistically though.

You are doing something wrong if running is jacking up your knees.

Sprints and interval training is great for improving VO2 max without sucking up a lot of time.

We don't have room for any more equipment. If I were to try and squeeze anything else in the garage, it'd be a rower

Decided to look on Craigslist for shits n giggles, ended up finding a rower for $60. May end up buying it. It's close by, and worst case scenario, I only lose $60 if it doesn't fit well enough

If you don't mind me asking, what'd you find? Air/Magnetic/Water? Brand? Just curious, I'm sure you've done some research on them. Hope you enjoy it, I know I love mine, great workout once you get the correct form.

For sure! Dude's moving to Hawaii (or so says the post). Going to see if I can pick it up after work.

Not a lot of information on it. Probably magnetic based off the look of it though? Maybe you can confirm. I haven't done any research, because I wasn't planning on buying one, but for $60 (going to split the cost with the girlfriend so $30 on my end) it might be worth a shot. I can't find any markings for a brand unfortunately though but going to text the guy and find out about it.

Definitely looks magnetic, since no venting for air to enter the machine, at least that'll make it quieter. Yeah, weird that there isn't any branding on it. When/if you go to check it out just fully extend that strap and make sure it's not frayed, it looks to be a flat strap and not a chain like the higher ends have, so just make sure it's not damage and isn't gonna snap after a few uses. Might also want to verify that changing the resistance level still functions as well. Also be sure it's long enough for you, I've heard of some taller folks having issues cause the machine was literally too short for them to complete the motion.

Take all this with a grain of salt, just a novice who loves his row machine.

Appreciate the info on what to look for. Would not have paid attention to most of that, including the whole tall folk part. That is very likely an issue to occur for me. I'll post up if I end up getting it.

Ok, without looking at the model just yet let me ask you a few questions...or just throw some information out there.

Does the sound level or volume matter, ie, do you need it to be quiet or doesn't matter?

I went with air myself only because I like how the resistance was based more off how hard I felt like pushing myself and I can change on the fly without stopping. The magnetic will have to have the settings changed either via the control panel or a knob. Your choice on which you prefer. I avoided magnetic too because (if its anything like my cycle) if you spin/pull too fast for a particular resistance setting you get this weird slipping/jerking feeling like the resistance suddenly drops. Don't know if a rower would do the same.

I've heard great things about Sunny Health machines. I'll have to check the link out and look at it further but it's definitely a great deal. I went with a Stamina machine myself, due to budget and the reviews I read comparing best budget air vs budget magnetic. I think the machine you linked was at top of list for budget magnetics.

Noise does not matter. It'll be in the garage which is detached from all the houses. I don't think I've ever used a magnetic one, only have used the air ones at the gym, I think they're the concept brand or something similar.

The one I linked seemed to be at the top for budget machines on the quick search I did during lunch. I don't have a lot of cash to blow right now, so this may be the best bet. I do like the on the fly settings changed. I guess I'll have to start doing some research. May PM you to discuss further and get some insights on your research

Of course, all away and I'll help you best I can. I think my air ended up being like $120 or so at the time. Yeah, I can believe you used the Concept machines, the best of the best in regards to air machines pretty much. They're the machines practically every gym uses.
