Casualty of swinging steel tubes around inside the cab. Luckily it was already going to get replaced during the caging process.

Laid some more pipe today (tube). B-pillar and hopefully some roof pieces tomorrow.

Yep, all tubes will be hidden behind trim panels and the seats themselves.

More progress. Got the headliner in and cage welded up and in place. Planned on the headliner fitting a little better, but it’s my first time. Then went a little crazy on the trimming to get it to fit. Oops. At least the grey on grey isn’t too unsightly.

Also lowered the rear of the front seats to gain some much needed headroom not that there are tubes in the way.

Damn sc is gonna make this engine cage a tight fit. Nonetheless managed to sneak a few tie in tubes to the cab cage and over the wiper motor and now have a starting point.

Also took the truck down the street for the first time in a few months. Seat almost tipped over when the boost kicked in haha. Lucky the harness bar was there to stop me from falling into the back seat.

Harness bars in as well as all of the gussets.

Started fitting the dash in. Still need to trim up the other trim pieces to fit and then finish painting.

Thanks. It’s not perfect by any means, but not bad for my first cage. And should get the job done if it ever gets tested.

First drive, harnesses in with the cage basically finished. Need to strip the trim, paint and add some sound deadening to the floor. Oh and have a windshield put in. Surprisingly not as loud inside even without a windshield at 45-50mph as I would have thought. Just a little grumblier at idle and under accel, but cruising is not bad at all.

No picture updates, but cab cage is done. Waiting on my windshield to get installed Tuesday so I can steal some urethane from the install to seal the holes where the cage goes through the firewall to start the engine cage. Once that’s done I can reassemble the interior.

Also did a revalve on the front coil overs that will hopefully make some drastically good changes.

Also going to be redoing the spare tire mount and bed storage. Turns out by the time I found containers for what I was planing on storing up against the cab and under the spare they didn’t fit. And after glamis a few months ago where I was fully loaded with all spare parts, camping and cooking gear, I need to figure out something different. Especially since that was only a 3 day trip and my lake/ rubicon trip next month is 12 days.

Well the truck just got back from seeing dirt for the first time in a while.

    New valving = wow
Being harnessed in = huge comforting feeling

Reworked the spare tire/ bed storage since I haven’t done that this year yet ( flat in bed for daily use, vertical/ centered and parallel to the truck for max storage) and added a bunch of d-rings to tie stuff down.

Got my rock crawling bedsides painted with the same paint as my beadlock rings, close enough for the few times a year I throw them on and at least the whole truck is orange now. And threw them on since we will be leaving for rubicon in a few weeks anyways.

Pics and video likely to be added this weekend since a few trucks are headed my way to play in the cinders.

Do you have a link to any guides you followed removing the dash or did you just do it by yourself? Thinking about taking my dash apart to check out the ac evaporator.

I don’t, I just went for it. I have had just about everything but the main dash piece out in the past. If it doesn’t pull/ pop apart then there is probably a bolt or wiring holding it on.
