I’ve had falkens in a 32x11.5r15, cooper st Maxx in a 265/75r16, STT pros I’m 33/12.5r15 and now Cooper XLT 285/75r16.
All were good tires but The Cooper XLT are my favorite.

I've owned both tires. Both are good.

If the money is the same I'd go with the ST Maxx.

I'm running Falken AT3W now due to budget.

ST Maxx is an extremely rugged tire with a hybrid Mudd / AT tread design. It's aggressive yet still fairly quiet for what it is. I beat the hell out of mine (slammed one into a concrete block at 12mph, destroying my suspension and no more than a scuff on the tire).

The Cooper is hands down the better of the two tires. They're on different product tiers.

I’ve been very pleased with my St maxx. Grip thru everything they’ve been in good wet traction, wearing like iron.
However if they are the slightest out of balance they will talk to you an it’s annoying an have noticed some slight pulling to the right but I feel that’s flat cam tabs doing that.

Those aren’t the E rated I’d assume he priced based on him saying earlier he compared E tires only.

If you want offroad performance, no question on going with the Maxx. They're a tough tire to puncture. I've had many deep sidewall cuts but never anything that leaks.

As many have mentioned both tires are solid performers, it just depends on what you are looking for in your next tire. Discount Tire Direct will be having a Memorial Day sale from 5/24/19 to 5/27/19. They also guarantee the lowest delivered price on the internet for all the products they carry. If you happen to find a lower delivered price send us a PM and we will beat it.

If you abuse your tires, Discount is the way to go with there protection plan. I've had 3 tires replaced because of deep sidewall cuts.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
The ST MAXX were very tempting but I went with the AT3/W. Take a look at worn ST MAXX verse the AT3/W and the lack of full length sipes may turn you off. The Falken should maintain performance more consistently.
    Running the 34X11.50r17.
I would like to see a comparison is performance. The MAXX has been around for quite some time as opposed the the AT3/W. I assume there has been some advancements.

I’m on the fence between these two as well. Want 255/80/r17 and both brands offer that size. I think Cooper is the only brand of the two that offers 255/85/r16….you will need that size for a full size spare if you choose to run one. My 2020 sport has 17” wheels, but a 16” spare.

I have the ST MaXX - 255/80R17. They got loud after about 10k, but they are tough and grip well offroad. For a 90% daily driver I'll select something else next time.

cooper st maxx. My personal experience with 315/70/17, i have nearly 70k on them. They have around 6/32 left, rotated every 5k. Those tires have seen everything, they are a little chunked up from offroad abuse, but still balance well.
