I can’t friggin win ! Are there any Pro rims after market with 1/4” thickness available?

 

Yes I buy my garnishes directly from Toyota.
There’s cheap versions on eBay being sold as OEM, they are very bad knockoffs, I think they work fine but they don’t fit very well and they look cheap, the glossy part in them also scratches extremely easy. That’s one example where OEM is worth the price, IMHO at least.
It’s not so easy to tell if you’ve never seen the real one but I’ve had both of them in my hands before the knockoff sucks. Or at least it did the last time I checked one out.

 

Installed and looking good however there's about a 1/8" gap between the top of grill and upper grill assembly. Not sure how I feel about that. I'm curious if thats normal, hit or miss, or just the grill I received?

This is common, I’m not going to say normal because I am not sure... let me elaborate on that....
I have seen this before and it just happens to be far more noticeable on lighter colored trucks and about 1/8” is as big as I’ve seen it, which isn’t horrible BUT....
I went to a dealership to look at the OEM grill installed on an actual TRD Pro, IT ALSO HAD THE GAPS! At just about 1/8” (I measured it... 0.132” at it’s widest point.
that being said, the gap is not always as big... but I cannot say weather or not it is due to variance on the grill or the grill surround...
And at least for me, I’ll take the small gap over the 1” thick chrome trim...

just ordered one! tried ordering an oem from toyota for $259, they didnt want to release it because my 2019 didnt come with it. i had to give them a VIN in order for them to release it. something to do with all the TSS sensor issues. in any case, love the look and hopefully i'll have no issues with the sensor.

 

Ty for the gap explanation. It's still a nice upgrade, the chrome must go and I would definitely recommend it to other people vs. spending $400+ on the OEM grill. And extending the refund goal is a +. Show us the money!

Ordered mine several months ago received it super fast but just now found some time to put it on. I admit I was on the fence with buying a knock off but glad I did. Looks great. Install was easy. Fit is great. Thanks OP.

 

Ordered mine off the website. Was at my front door two days later. Perfectly packed.

Had a pro grill, went to something else and decided to go pro again. Having had both, the fit, finish and quality of this copy is top notch. It actually flexes less than the oem and I like the slightly matte finish. The letters are mechanically fastened.

Even if the price was the same, I would recommend this over the oem.

 

We don’t usually get to hear opinions from people who have had or seen both the OEM and this one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

 

@FreshMexicanTaco Got me on the fence man, might order one today. Do the ones you ship out also have the color difference on the grill part for the T and A? You know, where the bg part is silver not black? I think I see it in the photos, just curious.

Thinking this might look sick on my BBP Taco, seen one or two around town, kinda falling in love.

The letters are still removable right? Thinking of painting them a bit darker then they come. Doable on the grill, easier off.

 

The grills do not have that difference the picture you see in the first post is old, the kind I have now has all letters the same. They are all removable as well, They are individually screwed in.

Thanks for clarification, I'm a nit picky mfer I know. I fell asleep too early last night but, grill ordered a few minutes ago! Woohoo! Time to ditch the SR5 grill and chrome.

 

Just got mine in today and installed. Looks awesome. Packaged perfectly, no broken clips, fit is spot on. Couldn’t be happier! If you’re on the fence because it’s not “oem” I’d give it a second thought!
