Nice trial3r, and nice truck towing setup!
Im shopping for a trailer myself right now.
Trying to determine the max dry weight I should use a limit for my search. Thinking 6,000 is about it..
    3,900 is light for that.

I flat towed this tractor trailer 80,000 lbs. from California to new Jersey with my 4 cylinder. She was bogging down a little bit in the mountains but did fine. Only 76500 lbs. overloaded.

6000 dry is too much. Gotta think about all your gear, water, passengers in the truck etc. I've had the Tacoma for 2 years and took my time looking at trailers I could feel comfortable towing with a midsize truck. Take your time and don't jump into anything too heavy. Ask not what your truck can tow for you, but ask what you're towing will do to your truck. Lol.

20’ ProLine we just picked up. Towed it 3 hours home and to the the water (about an hour one way) a few times already.

Truck has held up its end of the bargain. Might need to beef up the leaf pack a little. Taking the cap off when I tow it would help but not necessary.

Don’t know the specs on the weights yet but there’s CAT scales not too far from me so I might take advantage.

Always glad to see what these trucks can do.

I put in about 500-600 pounds of gear and stuff, I never bring my own water and make sure it's empty when leaving.

    So towing somewhere around 4500-4600.

Tacoma has the factory tow package installed using an R3 ReCurve weight distribution and sway control system.

I was about to give up on it this weekend heading out to camp with friends, it was riding like a boat.
One of my friends commented on the sag and helped me adjust the hitch which significantly changed the handling.
Going home was a much more pleasant and relaxing ride, even noticed better control when hitting bumps.

I was cruising at 60 mph at 2000-2500 rpms. Of course going up longer hills, I get up to 3500 rpms about 2/3 of the way up.

I primarily go 55-60 as a personal preference, I'm pretty new at this. I got up to 65 a couple of times without noticing, but backed off.

    So much happier.

Just picked up this trailer at the overland expo! Hiker extreme off road 5x8'. This is 1500lbs dry but does not have trailer brakes on it. I towed it from Flagstaff to Mesa and didnt feel like it needed trailer brakes but I am a novice when it comes to towing. Should I make getting brakes a first priority? Will not having brakes be detrimental in off road situations. I'm not talking Hell's Revenge Moab trails but southwest desert type stuff. 20190524_134244(1).jpg
