New here and Lookin for some guidance.
I drove my FJ 4x4 to death, great rig. 2008 3.5” sway-away Coil over with 285/70r17.
    and now I have a 2019 Tacoma OR 4door.
I use my truck often off road in my summer job and for recreation. Rocks, dirt, snow in norther Az.
Not real high speed off road stuff.
Because the FJ is so much different than my new truck I need some advise on the
    Suspension.
I am Not just lookin for a lift. Research so far is kinda pointing me to a Fox suspension but I’m open for ideas.
I want to get some good clearance but not kill my mpg either so I’m thinkin 255/80r17 or 85r17’s so I’m wondering also the height I will need.

    Thanks for any help.
    :)

Ok so if I’m reading this right you are recommending the factory suspension TRD pro? That is 2.5” correct.
Not just using the stock OR suspension.
I have seen some posts that users are sayin 2.5 is not enough for the 33” height of the 255/80r

One of the selling points of 255/80-17’s is you don’t need a lift or any mods (e.g., CMC etc). So keep it stock.

Depending on your budget and if any plans for armor.
The Old Man Emu is a great affordable setup
after that is the big name coilover makers which you seem familiar with.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Go with those tires, correct wheels, stock suspension.

If you find in actual use you need something improved, do it then.

These trucks can do way more than most think with a better set of tires and a skilled driver.

Anytime... good luck with your truck. Seems your set on Fox’s they ride great I’ve rode in several Tacoma’s with different setups being stockish to fully armored and all were a plush ride.

If you are concerned with travel then you’ll want to go long travel. Even with aftermarket suspension and UCA you won’t get a huge increase in travel.

I really appreciate all your all’s help. It’s as ya all know it’s an expensive mod so I’m Hopin I get it right the first time.

I wouldn’t go anymore than 2.5-2.75 past that you run the risk of to much preload and riding like a pogo stick. My icons are set at 2.75 and it’s a wonderful ride considering I’ve got 10ply tires and full armor.
But those shocks are adjustable to your liking with ride height. Out back you can get a 3 leaf aal for cheap compared to a replacement leafpack since your leafs are still new and have a arch. May need ucas as well all kinds of choices I’m running spc and they have been great.
