I stumbled onto these old guides (pre internet) cleaning out my garage. Rockford Fosgate 1 day school installer manual and a copied relay wiring guide. It amused me so I'm sharing it.20190601_105517.jpg 20190601_105521.jpg

Oh man, I love old car audio stuff. The old punch power, old PPI powerclass, earthquake, orion with the old cheater amps.

My first system ran a ppi pc650 and a ppi pc2150 pushing a focal poly kevlar and some infinity beta components. Nothing beat old heavy amps.

Dug these out of the garage, tested them to make sure they still work. The 202 (long amp) had some issues with one channel, I took it apart and found some corrosion on some of the mosfets that the last owner replaced. Cleaned them up and now that channel is nice and clean.

Thinking of throwing these into my truck, 51.5 inches long takes up the whole back wall. I may try a temp setup with these amps, see how they sound with my system. But if I used them they would be at the top of the rear panel behind the seats, then put a pair of 10 inch subs in a box under them. Then make a cover all trimmed out so it looks nice.

Though I would need to refinish the amps, thinking of taking them to a body shop and them shot with inferno, then put teal LED lights in to replace the factory LEDs that are in the amps (the mesh in the middle lights up green or red, depending on protection mode or "on")

Sounds like a plan. Cool looking amps, I have no experience or knowledge of them. 2 ohm stable? Brideable? Tri mode? Built in crossovers? Just curious.

2 ohm yes, crossovers yes,. Bridgeable yes.

They are from the time when signal processing was limited, so you had to Daisy chain amps. It has outputs on each one that lets you run multiple off a single set of rca jack with cascading crossover points.

You set up a 4 channel to run tweeters and mid-range, then output to a 2 channel to run midbass, then output from that to a subwoofer amp. It's a pretty cool way they set it up actually. In the user manual it shows 3 way components set up, brings me back to when sq systems were very elaborate.

On a related topic, I got my replacement plugs today for the amps. They sell them on ebay for $12-14 each, but I found the actually supplier sells them for $1-2 each. So I have plugs for both 4 channel amps, power for the 2 channel subwoofer amp. I just need the 5 pin plug for the 2 channel... looks like I have to go with the $12 ebay one there :(

Going to try the amps out in the truck when I get back from florida. If they sound better than the audiocontrol amps I have, then these will be getting painted inferno orange and installed in a custom box behind the seats that holds 2 10s and the amps across the top.

Ill see if I can get some pictures of my vintage jbl collection.

    I have:
    two jbl gth400 6 channel 50x6
    two jbl gtq200 4 channel 50x4
    two jbl gts50 2 channel 25x2
    one jbl gtq100 4 channel 25x4

I could very easily be incorrect, but aren't JBL and Infinity car amps from that timefeame very comparable?
I never worked for a authorized Infinity or JBL car audio dealer.
With the missing plugs, have you ever heard these amps play?

I believe harman (jbl) aquired infinity in the early 2000s. These amps were from the early 1990s

I have never actually heard the infinity amps play. I got them about 10 years ago, but they didnt have plugs and I could never bring my self to spend the huge sum of money to get 9 plugs costing over $12 each.

I did test them just the other day at low volume with a lawn tractor battery and a old speaker. The 2 channel had some issues with 1 channel, I took it apart and found corrosion on some mosfets. Cleaned it up and now it sounds good again.

EDIT, looks like harman got infinity in the 1980s and jbl in the 1970s. Back in the 1990s the two companies had wildly different product lines. Now they sell the same things. infinity kappa = jbl stadium.
