Transfer case oil(Canada)

Really trying hard not to spend $71+tax for 1L of this elusive substance. What have you been using in the transfer case? Ravenol is not sold in canada.

Even if you are paying full price for the shipping, it should be at least half the cost of the dealer? IDK about the exchange rate and all that.

 

I'd honestly feel better putting that in it then 75w90.. although at this point I may say fuck it nd just use the 75w90 the parts guy and a tech at my dealer had no idea 75w was even a thing

 

It's best not to make friends with anyone from Ontario, just kidding but that is an option I guess if shipping wouldnt be killer

 

The closest thing available is Ravenol MTF-3 75W SAE.
VOAs show it's somewhat lacking in the additive package, compared to Toyota LF.
That said, people have been using it with no complaints.

Edit: bummer; missed the Canadian availability, or lack thereof.

 

Absolutely, blows my mind how causal it is to them to just throw 75w90 in from the drum nd not even kno the difference. Pretty sure the 2014+ tundras also call for 75w in the tcase but hey if its gonna do any damage it's most likely going to be out of warranty at the time

 

Yea the parts dept. at my dealer is really the only people I have use for at the place lol iv done everything myself after my free maintenance was up. Their not a high volume dealer to begin with so it's always a struggle to get known issues looked at.

 

My local Canadian dealer confirmed to me they do not use the LF fluid on any vehicles and put 75/90 in all T-cases and diffs, on all Tacos and Tundras. When I asked if I could order the right stuff, the parts guy looked at me like I was being some sort of asshole, so I left it at that.

 

I've had Royal Purple Synchromax in my 16 TRD OR for about 12k miles now. I use 4x4 regularly and have had no issues. In fact 4-low gear whine was drastically reduced after swapping fluid in around 30k.

 

My dealer said they only have one drum. I put syncromax in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. We'll see I guess.

ETA: probably 8-10k on the oil. 33k total miles.

 

Yea same kind of experience lol I showed him the part # and picture of the toyota 75w can first thing he said was no way that's the right oil, I never seen a can like that since the 80s. A Tech was standing there getting parts lookin at me like I was asking for blinker fluid lol
