    2.25 leveling kit.
First post and new to the world of Tacoma's. Be gentle, I know the bare basics but I'm learning.

I had a 2.25 leveling kit put on. It was nice for my 265/75/16 tires. I've upgraded tires and got the goodyear duratrac 285/75/16. They're gorgeous. They rub only at full lock and bumps if I'm turning fast over them. How can I eliminate that with keeping these tires? Would a suspension lift of 1 or 2 inches take care of that? If thats the case can a suspension lift stack with a leveling kit? Or can I just increase my level .75? So many questions

The issue is the width of the tires.

Feel free to give this a read. It’s focused on 35s but the principals are the same. You either need to cut, trim, change wheels, modify alignment or a combo of these.

If it's the width, wouldn't wheel spacers work?

A level kit is what you buy before you save up for a proper suspension system. Wheel spacers, rear blocks and shock spacers have drawbacks.

To make a determination you need to show pics of where the rubbing is. Pushing the wheels out with spacers might make it quit rubbing on it's current location and cause it to rub somewhere else.

I assume you're running the stock wheels for an SR5?

Wheels spacers could make it even worse. You would need to understand your wheel offset and backspacing.

Alignment, pull more caster. You’ll probably need better UCAs.

Jsinnard, yes sir stock wheels sr5. Changing the wheels would make a difference in this case? I'll take some pictures of where the rub is the best I can. I think its what Joe has been saying about the width mainly.

I looked into the front coiler spacers and saw that you can bottom out the shock and have a failure. Shock Travel issue.

I have used a Bilstein 6112 front coilers and they are easily adjustable. You can get a lift and even use a heavier/lighter series spring.

The rears? I would rather use a good Heavy Duty rear leaf kit and have that extra bit of security of an extra 650 lbs if needed.

I swapped to my 265 75 16 duratracs. Too much talk of cutting and trimming all for a, "mall cruiser" that will still still rub on bumps. Not the reason I have a 4 wheel vehicle. Thank you all for your help though! Greatly appreciated. Love this site. Uploading pics is a drag though.
